Godzilla: Monster Planet

Vision, you never seen any of the old Godzilla movies? Lol

I expect to see exactly that in the American ones.

They better not get two versions of Taylor swift or something to summon mothra lol

Actually, twin Taylor Swifts singing to summon a giant destructive insect monster would be pretty funny.

Imagine the song she would write if mothra left her though

Not sure if anyone else has watched this...

I didn't like it at all, I was hoping something as good as Castlevania, and felt that the art felt like it was motion poster concept art.

Characters were blah.

BUT

I will say I watched this in english, so I'm wondering if someone who watched the Japanese version if the characters were better written? I know sometimes translation can really hurt these movies.

Watched about 15 minutes of the movie. Will watch the remainder prolly this weekend. The animation is a bit iffy but it didn't bother so much.

Is this on Netflix now?

I saw this last night. Thought it was ok, but I didn't go in knowing it was just the first of a three-part story.

I watched this earlier today and honestly I found it pretty dull and kind of a snooze. I liked the animation, but really that's about it. Not much actually happens in this movie I don't buy just because its the first film in a trilogy as an excuse for the lack of action, because if that were true than plenty of other films wouldn't be able to stand on their own either. This was just unimaginative and boring with no likable characters, and if your expecting some awesome monster battles than your definitely going to be disappointed.

4/10

I'd give this movie a 5/10. An okay flick really. They really should up the ante when it comes to the animation. I've seen this type pf animation before and it just looks unfinished.
Storywise it's very simple. The ending was cool though but having binge watched Fate/Apocrypha this really pales in comparison.

The second film is hitting Netflix on the 16th.

Second movie is out. I sort of grew to like the first one on a rewatch, and enjoyed this one. Just sad about the lack of Mechagodzilla.

You know, I haven't seen part 2 yet, but I know its mixed. Part 3 will have Ghidorah, but from part 1, I had a theory as to what they could've done if they went a certain direction that's both interesting and original. I won't say it until after part 3 comes out.

I wasn't feeling the second one as much as the first.

Not a lot of Godzilla is an issue plus there's this injection of all these philosophical differences that weren't really well introduced in the first film that matter to a lot of the conflict in part two. In fact that's a big issue all around. There's a lot of vagueness but it's obvious the creators think they engaged the viewer with these concepts in the first one. Like, I didn't even get in the first one that there were alien humanoids among the Earth refugees but the bearded characters that join up with the MechGodzilla city are now aliens? I didn't get that at all with part one.

I wasn't really keen on the philosophical discussions. Really, I was just wondering if they did defeat Godzilla, could they really live on the planet anyway with all the new animals and how things have changed.

I remember in the first film, they talked of the two alien groups who came to Earth and then with the humans, they left the planet. It was pretty brief, I think. I forgot that Mechagodzilla was even mentioned in the first film. So, that's twice we didn't really get to see it in action against him.

Watched the second part of this so called trilogy a couple of days ago and it is easily one of the most boring and pretentious films I have seen all year. I'm still trying to figure just what the hell they are actually doing with Godzilla, because he is barely in these damn movies so far. Just like the last movie we are spending way too much time with the humans and worst of all none of them are likable characters. I'm sure those who disliked the 2014 movie would absolutely hate these movies too, because at least in that film we got one cool monster fight. Here all you get is a bunch of people in robots constantly shooting at Godzilla and it's lame as ****.

Weird bat****, nihilistic, fatalistic, used Godzilla as window dressing.

I loved it.

Yeah, that was that bizarre anime ****. Fun stuff.

Ghidorah was neat, especially his summoning. That was really awesome.

Man I have no desire to see this after how awful and lackluster the last two movies were, but the KG stuff I've been hearing about sounds pretty cool. I don't know if that's enough to help me stick through watching the whole thing though.
