Action-Adventure Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

I don't get how some people don't like it, it 100% is the best, it's literally a Heisei era movie done by Hollywood.

But I am also biased as that's my favorite Godzilla era so...

Heisei is my fave too...but I also kinda get why the GA didn't quite warm up too it.

Its a movie love letter for Toho Godzilla fans and might have been a tad too much for the GA to swallow so early into the MV. I do think the script and the film itself needed another editing combover. There's a scene at Mark's Cabin and on the way to the Monarch base were he says the exact same thing about the Orca's origin to the same person but both scenes treat it as if its the first time the other person is hearing that.

Plus I think Doughtery got a little lost in the sauce when it comes to certain things. Example: while its that they thought that a massive bio-electrical entity such as Ghidorah would have a negative effect on the weather around IE the Thunderstorm he was always caked in. But at the same time they really need to wipe away a layer or two of particle effects so the Audience could see the action

Again I love the film to death, but its got some glaring flaws that might irk me if i was more of a casual fan as opposed to a Godzilla fanatic.

Went to see Kaiju action and it delivered bring on the next film
I'm a kong guy so enjoyed him being the focus

Heisei Godzilla for life! Though I think Gojira and Godzilla Minus One are the 2 best Godzilla movies ever, the Heisei era is easily my favorite era. Best overall collection of films IMO

I need a full list of every large city that simply doesn't exist in this Universe...

Off the top pf my head, we have essentially eliminated;

San Francisco
Boston
Tokyo
Las Vegas
Washington, D.C.
[the pyramids]

What am I missing?

Really enjoyed this one. It was a lot of fun & I felt it added to the MonsterVerse mythology in an enjoyable way. Human cast was enjoyable & fit into the overall story well, and it was nice once again to see Kong progressing even further as a character.

I'll probably have to watch again just to be sure but my initial reaction would be that even though I loved GvK, I think I like this installment a little more.

SF & LV got decimated in G14, and Honolulu got flooded but is still kicking

DC and Boston got utterly wrecked in KOTM, as well as Rodan's Island. phoenix and Munich took some hits too.

GvK saw Hong Kong get wrecked and a giant hole to HE blasted into it but the majority is still there.

GxK saw Rome, Cadiz, Gibralter, Cairo and Rio get trashed. Though Gibralter most likely got flooded due to Godzilla's swan dive off the Rock. Perfect form to the Big Guy.

Well, other than Rome, Europe is largely unscathed.

Could you imagine living in this monsterverse world knowing that at any minute giant monsters could break out into a fight and essentially decimate everyone and everything you love? Fun! :funny:

These Monsters make Superman look less of an a-hole - lol.

But seriously though, in this world where several major global cities were essentially evaporated you've got to imagine the world governments and United Nations have to be working on some kind of contingency plan and are not just idly submitting to the fact that these creatures could essentially wipe out the human race if they dont do something. I think there's fodder there for a story if they wanted to go that direction.

Half of this new movie was just Monarch being all ‘well Godzilla is rampaging but we can’t do much but watch’ lol

I think Mechagodzilla was that plan, lol!

It's so f**kin insane.

As I expected, this movie was so stupid but I had a lot of fun watching it. The human scenes mostly bored me apart from Dan Stevens (who somehow unironically became one of my favorite human characters in this franchise, don't know how that happened) but I was watching that final battle with such glee. I was fully embracing the ridiculousness.

Didn't Honolulu get trashed from the Tsunami caused by Godzilla coming ashore in G14?

I saw something on Twitter regarding this film that I wished I hadn't seen, would have been cool to see it in the film for the 1st time.
I can see that this is quite removed from the tone of G14 so I'm just accepting to turn my mind off and enjoy this for what it is.

Seeing this again as my first 4DX film during my day-trip to NYC Saturday. This was a lot of fun and I'm glad to see the Monsterverse balance the seriousness with a sense of fun.

Now if only DC Comics' films could do that more often....

Hong Kong in GvK, Rio de Janeiro in GxK

So i think its safe to bet anywhere from 30 - 50 million this weekend. which given that its probably going to be about 90 - 95 million going into the weekend...odds are wer're going to be looking at anywhere between $120 - $145 million by next monday.

IF it could hit $200 million by the end of three weeks...that would be outstanding.

A second watch of this honestly made me enjoy it even more than before. And the human team in this one feel very close to the characters in Godzilla: The Series in terms of tone & their relationship with Kong.

There's so many places they could go with the MonsterVerse from here. But, as I've said before, I'm really hoping we get to see SpaceGodzilla.
