Now you're gonna have to school her. Enforce that manga =/= anime. Anime is what the Japanese call all cartoons since they can't really prounounce "animation" that well. Kinda like how Americans tend to dumb down words in their own language. "Cuz" instead of "Because" for instance.

Actually, 'anime' is a French word for animation that was adopted by the Japanese.

I like the Finnal Fantasy movies

Might as well tack on Grave of the Fireflies to this list. Just got done watching it a few hours, and it is a good story. I believe it's based off of a real guy's WW2 experience in Japan, but of course changed some things including the ending. It's def not a kids anime, and has a few more graphic scenes. It's more story driven too, more of less a teenager and his kid sister living with constant shelling and the loss of their family, and having to live in the side of a mountain. Don't wanna give anymore away, but it's not a bad movie by any stretch (not one of my top 10 or anything, but not bad).

I liked this anime film:
Sonic the Hedgehog the movie.
The translation to jappense to english kind of sucks but im too much of a Sonic Fan to care.
