It's a simple thread. What pilots did you think were good? What pilots did you think were bad? I'll start.

Good Pilots
-Star Trek. Whether you consider The Cage or Where No Man Has Gone Before both were great.
-The Cosby Show. Possibly the funniest sitcom pilot ever.
-Lois & Clark. The ending is a bit anti-climatic, but everything else was fantastic.

Bad Pilots
-Seinfeld. I love Seinfeld, but the first two or three seasons sucked.
-The Office. I didn't find the pilot funny at all.
-Geore Lopez Show. I have been watching the show recently on Nick at Nite and its decent, but back in 2002 when the show premiered it didn't do anything for me. Which disappointed me since as an hispanic I was looking forward to the show.

Firefly had a great pilot. As did Journeyman, Lost, and Eureka. On the other hand, Flash Gordon did not have a good pilot, and if you don't consider the miniseries the BSG pilot, its first episode was weak too.

Lost had a great pilot. I liked it a lot. Smallville had an awesome pilot too.

One thing I never understood, why is it that some shows show the pilot way later instead of as the first episode? Like with Firefly.

Smallville's first 10-15 minutes were great with the metoer shower and intial cast introductions, but all too quickly moved into freak of the week plot.

Arrested Development
The Office
(US version)

The US Office just rehashed the British version's pilot, it did a decent job, but won't seriously lacking originality. Second season is when the Office really got good, when it stopped using the British versions plot.

Because Fox didn't know what it was doing with the show and probably trying to kill it, showing a serial sci-fi drama's episodes out of order is a good first step, another nice one is airing it on Friday nights.

Fox didn't think the pilot had enough action so the makers of the show wrote a new "first" episode ("The Train Job") and aired it as the premiere. The pilot was shown much later because Fox often demonstrates that it cannot handle good shows.

flight of the conchords pilot was weak in comparison to the rest of the season.

Heroes, the unedited version that was released online. FanTASTIC.

Lost has one of the best pilots I've ever seen.
And let's not forget Battlestar Galactica, whether you consider the film or "33" as the pilot, they're both fantastic.

Burn Notice's pilot was awesome this summer. It had me hooked immediately.

You were excited to watch it solely because you're hispanic?

Dude, how many sitcoms have an entire cast of hispanic actors and characters? I was hoping for the show to be great. It wasn't and so I was disappointed.

raven [early 90's
i watched the 90 miniute pilot movie of this adventure show and was hooked on it

...um, Coupling(UK) had a ok pilot. Same with Psych.

Bad pilots. Highlander. Wow...not a good pilot. From what I've seen of the show, it is good, but that pilot not really.

I've never seen the British version. I've been meaning to for some time now.
