Good third movies, do any exist?

I have friends who dislike spider-man 2, but love spider-man and spider-man 3, friends who find the nolan batfilms boring, but love the burton ones religiously (I like both series), think X2 sucks but love wolverine, and so on. There is not a bound to fail rule, there is a "well studios interfering are screwing over the movie" rule though.

Good God, you need new friends. :p

ithought superman 3 was good. sure lot ofpeople didn't like it. i like it it was good fun pop corn moive. my favortie part were clark kent fighting him self as superman in the junk yard

great moives:
back to thefuuter 3
batmanforever not the best movie come on it batman.

Return of the Jedi is definitely a good third movie IMO.

what is it about the number THREE that turns good franchises to ****?

off the top of my head I can only think of a few good third movie

1. toy story 3
2. back to the future 3
3. return of the king (although I hated the multiple endings)
4. harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban

and then I'm struggling.

Toy Story 3. Return of the Jedi. Return of the King. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Return of the Jedi
The Bourne Ultimatum
Toy Story 3
Army of Darkness
Die Hard: With a Vengeance
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Matrix : Revolutions
Friday the 13th Part 3
Nightmare on Elm St 3 : The Dream Warriors
Back to the Future 3
Scream 3
Saw 3
LOTR: Return of the King
Mission Impossible 3 ( although in a weird twist MI2 was terrible IMO)
Christmas Vacation
Chasing Amy (The Jersey trilogy)
Red Dragon
Day of the Dead
Austin Powers : Goldmember
American Wedding
Rush Hour 3 ( if you liked the other two)
HP: Prizoner of Azkaban
The Good , bad , and ugly

Some of the other part threes aren't as good as the second installments but are still enjoyable /

Undisputed III: Redemption. Just as good as the previous.

Definitely! Better than its second installment at least.

Damn straight. I like them all, but imo, its' JP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JP3 >>>>>>> JP2

The Return of the King
Return of the Jedi
Toy Story 3
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
The Bourne Ultimatum
Back to the Future Part III
X-Men: The Last Stand
Mission: Impossible III
Spider-Man 3

Back To The Future III was better than II.

Don't forget Goldfinger as well.

The only other 3rd movie that I really like that hasn't been mentioned is ...

Christmas Vacation

Almost as good as the first, in my opinion.
Agreed.

I think everything else mentioned in this thread except Toy Story 3 didn't live up to previous installments. Some of the "part 3s" were an improvement on "part 2" but still couldn't touch "part 1". (i.e. Back to the Future 3) If The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is the third part of a story that counts too, but I wasn't aware of it being connected to any other movies.

Well the title is 'Good third movies'. The movie doesn't have to surpass the original, it just has to be good. I'd say that Back to the Future 3 is a decent sequel to the original.

I noticed that "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" is absent from the thread. I wouldn't call it a bad movie, it could just use a lot of editing.

I actually like "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" but mainly because Depp's character was a badass.

M:I3
Tokyo Drift
return of the Jedi
Return of the King
Ocean's 13
Bourne Ultimatum
Goldfinger
BTTF Part III (although I think it's the weakest)
Toy Story 3
The Last Crusade
Army of Darkness

Probably leaving some out.

LOTR: Return of the King
Return of the Jedi (even though Ewoks suck, dude)
Die Hard: With a Vengeance
Mission Impossible 3
The Bourne Ultimatum
Back to the Future III
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Christmas Vacation
Toy Story 3
Army of Darkness
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Prizoner of Azkaban
Saw 3 (not great but it would have been a decent end to the series... unfortunately, they ran it into the ground after that)

I think I prefer II as it is more of a time travel movie like the first one, and it focuses on Biff, who is one of the funniest villans in cinema history, if not the.
III is very good, but it is basically just a comedy of manners, while trying to find a solution to their fuel problem. The love story is sweet, but hardly a great drama.
Anyway OBen-Wan, you are, em, obviously in the middle of flying over in your DeLorean to pick up your new wife to be, so you can get back to me on that one once you have exchanged all your pounds for dollars and settled in and all that.

I would like to argue for Escape of the Planet of the Apes.
