I have friends who dislike spider-man 2, but love spider-man and spider-man 3, friends who find the nolan batfilms boring, but love the burton ones religiously (I like both series), think X2 sucks but love wolverine, and so on. There is not a bound to fail rule, there is a "well studios interfering are screwing over the movie" rule though.
what is it about the number THREE that turns good franchises to ****?
off the top of my head I can only think of a few good third movie
1. toy story 3
2. back to the future 3
3. return of the king (although I hated the multiple endings)
4. harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban
and then I'm struggling.
Jurrasic Park III is a decent movie.
Definitely! Better than its second installment at least.
Yes
Agreed. The only other 3rd movie that I really like that hasn't been mentioned is ...
Christmas Vacation
Almost as good as the first, in my opinion.
Well the title is 'Good third movies'. The movie doesn't have to surpass the original, it just has to be good. I'd say that Back to the Future 3 is a decent sequel to the original.Agreed.
I think everything else mentioned in this thread except Toy Story 3 didn't live up to previous installments. Some of the "part 3s" were an improvement on "part 2" but still couldn't touch "part 1". (i.e. Back to the Future 3) If The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is the third part of a story that counts too, but I wasn't aware of it being connected to any other movies.
As someone else said, Goldmember.
