Gotham City Concept Thread

Dammit. Why do I miss all the big fights.

I'm still more against this RPG than I am for it. If I pick up someone right now, I think I might be a reporter. Someone like Alexander Knox.

I'm really mixed on this one. I agree with some of the stuff that Sensei said, and if it fails again it'll be heart-crushing. However...if we could make our own characters...

So, this RPG takes off a few months after TDK, but what's the status of Gotham Knights?

Has this **** been approved yet?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

:lmao:

:o

Seriously though, I believe it's still going to be a couple of weeks before anything gets approved. To my knowledge they're still hashing out a new, harder application approval process.

I think this RPG could be interesting, but I also have problems with it being purely Gotham orientated. I know, I know. It's the whole point of the RPG but I just think it is strange to have an RPG focused on one character's universe. Maybe if it was the whole DC universe done within the same vain as the Dark Knight with the characters being more gritty and real. I already know that would be a problem.

Not saying this shouldn't get approved, but wasn't there a rule when this subforum came about that said that RPG's set in one character's universe wasn't allowed. If that has changed, that's fine. I just want to make sure I'm not crazy.

My 2 cents: Anyone who says they can't write as a cop. Let me say this much....

Hold on, what is this?

How did that get in there?

You've inspired me byrd to pull my own little surprise the next time someone makes fun of Aquaman. :woot:

There's already been one Gotham RPG. Went by the name of "Why So Serious?" Was tremendously popular until everyone stopped caring.

I'm not being sarcastic when I say this. Thank you, Byrd. Your ego has helped an argument...once again.

Writing a cop is no different from writing a superpowered hero or villain. It's the way you portray the character and write them. Any character can be interesting.

Writing a cop is very different from writing a superpowered hero or villain, but like you said, it's all about the portrayal. Not everyone can pull that off though.

Maybe in the sense that they don't really have two identities or a costume, but yeah, I think you get my meaning.

I don't think there's any need to be creating custom superheroes and supervillains. I think Gotham has a plentiful supply of those as it stands, without needing to add more. And in terms of cops, there's already a pretty sizable cast established in "Gotham Central" and other comics. Ditto for mobsters. So the only way I could see an actual need for created characters would be if you're going Harl's route, and inroducing someone who fits into the wider infrastructure of Gotham City, in Harl's case the new DA.

Actually, the new DA won't be a created character.

Somebody's being transferred from New York.

I wonder if you have the same idea I had for UDC, Harl. I'll have to wait and see. :cwink:

Most likely. My idea's been in the works for some time though. It's a carry-over from WSS?

Ah. Interesting. In any event, if it's who I am thinking of, it should be quite fun to see it in action. :cwink::up:

I'd be creating a custom detective. Mostly because I have no prior knowledge of anyone from the Gotham Central series, nor do any of them particularly appeal to me. But if custom characters are not allowed, then I'd have something else to go with.
