Gotham Knights

I mean, DMC5 had three very, very different playable characters, with different ways to play them. And I'm sure people have played Batman differently in the Arkham games. RPG elements have been a staple of the action genre for quite some time, unlocking new moves and styles.

I'm also disappointed that Batgirl is once again Barbara. I get that she's the most well-known Batgirl, but since this IS a different universe from the Arkham games and basically a fresh start, it could have been the chance to give the spotlight to another character as Batgirl, like Cassandra.

I think this is my biggest disappointment from the game so far. Barbara as Batgirl is such a safe, bland choice. We're allowed to have up to three Robins (two former, one current), but only Barbara can be Batgirl. It's even worse here since she was apparently Oracle in this, but then after Gordon died, she just "trained' until she could walk again. It may not be the intention, but it feels like they are doing that to spite fans of Oracle, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown.

I mean, it is well in line with DC's mandate on Batgirl being Babs. This has not exactly been a new issue. And I doubt a licensed game is where you are going to see it be resolved to your satisfaction.

This is something that's annoyed me for a while, I always found Oracle, Cassandra Cain/Stephanie Brown to be far more interesting. I kept hoping to see Cassandra Cain to show in this and throughout the Arkham series and feel disappointed every time. I'm also a huge fan of Tim Drake but since Damian came along he gets pushed to the side and I just cannot stand Damian as a character.

I'm also curious as to why the hell Batwoman isn't in this?

Most likely that she would be too similar to Batgirl, gameplay wise.

She really wouldn't have to be. Especially as there isn't a proper hand to hand person in this group without Batman around. That said, I am hoping the structure means we might get some additions. I'd love Kate, Helena, Canary, and Damian.

The blurb on Robin in the website confirms it's Tim. Glad he's finally getting some mainstream exposure in something.

wasn't Tim Robin in the Arkham games?
Yes and I'm very happy with how they portrayed. I was speaking more about current comics, animated movies, etc.

That's good to hear, when I saw the first design I assume it was going to be Damien. Tim Drake is just all around a better Robin, the only who felt like a true successor to Bruce.

I doubt that's the case. Variety comes more from gadgets they use and animation/flow of their gameplay. Batgirl is already using a side-handle baton(that's a nice touch by the way), having Batwoman using hand-to-hand alone is enough to distinguish them. I'm willing to guess she'll either be announced later or was cut for time/money.

I'm glad it Tim btw, not a fan of Damian

Damian is also in DC Universe Online as part of the Titans.

He can die a horrible and slow death! Team Tim!

Thought this was a nice breakdown of Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights. I agree that Knights feels like a continuation from Arkham. More so than Suicide Squad does so far.

Batwoman as some pure hand to hand combat character, would have been distinguish enough i think.
But i also think that 4 playable characters are already quite a lot to handle.
So im currently not sure if we get additional playable characters in this game.

Damian and Kate would be neat, but i dont expect it to be honest.

On a different note:

I get thats the premise and all, and the main point of this games existence...but damn it, they dont do a good job at getting me excited for this game if they continue to go: "Hey guys, batman is really dead.
Yeah no batman, he is dead dead dead dead, gone, sleeping with the fishes...he is totally dead guys."

Cant they just go "he is not here" or so?
Im already struggling enough getting into this game when they show screenshots and all from a gotham i will NOT explore with Batman himself.
No need to rub salt into the wound. XD

If they want to add a pure hand-to-hand fighter, then that could be Cass as Black Bat/Orphan. Isn't she supposed to be like one of the top martial artists in the DC universe, and even better than Batman amongst the Batfamily?

I was thinking they could maybe give her a katana, but I guess that isn't exactly non-lethal.......lol.

Speaking of which, what's the deal with Red Hood's guns? Is he firing energy shots or non-lethal bullets?

All the Tim stuff you listed (outside of the comics, which is an whole 'nother bag of worms) is either old as hell, obscure as hell, or barely has Tim. Or worse, Tim acts nothing like Tim. Ever since Damian was created, he's obviously been DC's favorite Robin to put into stuff. Tim deserves more love.

They say on the website that he has embraced the bat-family’s non-lethal ways, so I’m guessing they are some high tech taser bullets or something.

They also confirmed that Batman/Bruce Wayne is being voiced by Michael Antonakos.

I'm not sure I know the voice actors but I really like the characters designs and models!
