In about 45 minutes.
Man, I NEVER got a speeding ticket in Phoenix. I come to these small towns and get two speeding tickets in a matter of 6 months. Both of them in 35 mph zones, both of them with the cop clocking me at 45!

I'll never do this again; it's the metropolis for me. :down

Man, that sucks. But you know Cops have to get their quotas. And I don't care if they say "there's no such thing" they DO have to ticket X-amount of people to show they are being thorough on the job.

Did you dispute it?

You never speed when you're out in the boonies. Ever. They don't have **** to do out there but set up speed traps.

Sheesh, what a bummer. So basically, people who exceed the speed limit by half a mile an hour are being punished as a result of a civilized, law-abiding society. Talk about defeating your own purpose.

This is so weird, I just paid one like an hour ago. $130 gone. :csad:

You lousy women drivers. :o

Yeah, its a well known fact that cops do have quotas to fill. At least in most cities/states. But its not like its hard for them to do, every time I go anywhere I see at least 10 people speeding. :o

Plead down the charge HV.

Talk to the Prosecutor. I've got a few traffic tickets and I've always managed to plead it down so I got no points on my license or my insurance.

On a side note, that cop was a dick. A lot of cops are pretty lenient about only going 10 miles over the speed limit.

Of course I also drive around with 2 PBA cards just in case. Those usually get me out of most tickets.

What pisses me off is when some impatient idiot rides my ass and then zooms past me going 20 miles faster than he should. So there are two offenses right there: Tailgating and speeding. Yet those mofos escape totally unpunished. And I'm like, "Where the hell are the cops when it's time to catch people like that?"

But they sure as hell are available to give me my little ticket for going five miles over. Everytime. :down:whatever:

lol. I know what you mean. It seems like everytime a jackass weaves through lanes, cuts me off, zooms by going 100, slams on brakes in the middle of the street, or does any other ridiculously asinine thing, there's never a cop around. :csad:

Count yourselves lucky, here in Switzerland I tend to pay 500-1000 a month on tickets which is a pain. They charge you a fine which is around 20 x the amount of km/h you are over the speed limit. So for example, 45 in a 35 zone accounts for 200.

Meh. My sister gets a speeding ticket almost every month. Seriously, it's very scary to be in the passanger seat when shes driving. Lets just say with my friends I sometimes forget to wearmy seat belt. With her I ALWAYS remember.

I used to get a ticket about once a year when I was in high school and college. Finally learned to not speed as much.

Showed some skin didn't ya? :o :csad:

300 ****ING DOLLARS! I'll break my foot off in that cop's ass if I ever find him again!!

...I'm going to a hearing. Erz, how the eff do I plead this down?!

In Jersey, they usually give a few minutes that you can talk to the prosecuter. In my experience they usually had a "plea of the day", in my case it was obstruction of traffic, which was 0 points on your license and your insurance which is more important that the fine. However, the fine for the lesser plea is usually less than the one you were originally charged with.

On a side note if you had the time and energy, there is a book out there that let's you find "outs" and "loop holes", (example: making sure the Officer in question is up to date on all his training and certification of his radar gun, changing your date to when the Officer is off so he's least likely to show up (aka right to face your Accuser)).

Thats a lot of cash. My dad once got flashed by a speed trap while he was on a bicycle in a 20 limit.

Daaaaamn. Three-hundred bones for going ten miles over the limit? That's harsh.

jag

I know that here in Toronto you should always fight a traffic ticket (if you can afford to take the time off work). Frequently the police officers are too busy to make the court date and the charges get dropped completely. Usually, if the officer is available, the charges get lowered.

They gave me 160 for speeding, and 120 for failure to change address in 10 days! He also tried to give me "failure to wear corrective lenses", but I told the jerk I had lasik surgery. He then addresses me as if he's my daddy, telling me what he'll do if I'm lying and HAVEN'T had lasik surgery.

Arrrr-! I'm so angry I could spit venom :cmad:

Is it an automatic court appearance HV?

No, I opted for a hearing because I do not have 300 bucks. :(
