Gotta go pay a traffic ticket

So basically yeah you are fighting it.

You can read up on books on technicallities that can get you out.

Or you can just go and do what I suggested and just plead down. I'm not sure how things are in Arizona but that's how things work here.

HV, that site RM gave you lists a bunch of things listed in books.

Ex. Officer having to appear in court, right to face your accuser. Like calling the Police Department asking for the Officer til you find a day when he's usually off and then rescheduling your court appearance.

I also hate it when I break the law and get caught doing it, f'ing lame!

ALL CHARGES DROPPED! The cop did not show at the hearing. Needless to say I am happy as a lark. I didn't have to say anything afterall, but honestly, it was the advice of people in this thread (especially Erz *smooch*) that got me in the right direction.

Thanks a million, guys.

I get about 10 a year. The police here does nothing else. And it's mostly just 5 km over the speedlimit...go figure.

last time i got a speeding ticket (41 in a 35) i got a court date, and the judge dropped it down to failure to stop and did not affect my license.

I'm glad I could help and that things could work out HV.

I hate it when I go to court for speeding and people are pleading down to the offense that I was pulled over for. Just pisses me right off because I know the cop just did it cos he was bored. So I'm out a hundred bucks and losing half a day of my life waiting in line.

The cop actually didn't show? That never happens over here. I guess because where I live is a smaller suburb city so there's only like a handful of those dudes out and about.

There's a simple solution to this...don't speed and you won't have these problems. I see no sense in getting pissed at a cop for something you brought on yourself.

TO EVERYONE!!!

If you get a speeding ticket, and are more worried about the points than the fine, listen close:

Do not pay online. Go to the court date and plead either a system malfunction or dashboard malfunction. This trick works better if you have an older car. If you know a mechanic, have him or her write up some paperwork stating that got your car checked out and it's been having problems. The judge may not even bother looking at the paperwork. I believe you can use this excuse two or three times before you'll still get the fine and the points.

If you have any questions about this proven method, just post it on the boards.

(note: I used this method in NJ, and the prosecuter was a really cool guy, so do keep that in mind.)

Do you even drive yet? You're telling me you've never been driving in 45 mph zone and noticed, shucks, I'm actually going 50?

How would you like to see red and blue disco flagging you down for something that assinine?

I would feel like an ass, and I would accept the ticket like a gentleman because I exceeded the speed limit. I live in a civilized world and I broke the law, and I must pay the piper.

Not paying attention to our actions is NOT an excuse for commiting a crime, it never has, and it ever will be. If you are having a lot of these 'aw shucks' moments, you might want to take a serious look at your life and probably be thankful you aren't already dead or in prison.

So you've never done anything without proper judgment I assume.

Living in Toronto, my personal thinking is that if I drive no more than 10 km/h above the speed limit, I'm OK. Sp far I haven't recieved a speeding ticket. I must say that sometimes the speed limites are too low. For example 50 km/h is too slow IMO for a main street.

My father-in-law did 70 in a 50 zone... claimed he didn't know that if it was unsigned it was 50...

In about 45 minutes.
Man, I NEVER got a speeding ticket in Phoenix. I come to these small towns and get two speeding tickets in a matter of 6 months. Both of them in 35 mph zones, both of them with the cop clocking me at 45!

I'll never do this again; it's the metropolis for me. :down

Ten over is a speeding ticket. Sorry. You can go five over, but no more. AT LEAST here in NC. Right call by the police man. I can see if it was 6 or 7 over...but 10...that's too fast over the limit.
