The Long Halloween is the greatest Batman story I have read - plus I love Tim Sales art

I've yet to read The Killing Joke, as I can find anywhere in Glasgow that sells it.

I think the Long Halloween would be a great story to base BB2 on. Change Holliday for Joker, save the scaring for BB3 (or very end of BB2), take away Catwoman but keep the frustrating romance between Selina and Bruce, just change Selina for Rachel (I like continuity). You will have to replace the villians randomly used in the story, but you could still have Mob Boss X (Falcone in TLH) employ a "freak" (Penguin?) Also use the theme of Freaks v. Organized Crime (Black Mask v. Maroni/Thorne?).
Of course add the Gordon-Dent-Batman greatness, really build the character of Harvey Dent - who was easily made my favorite character while reading TLH.

I don't know, but I think "Man who Laughs" could fit there, cus I think it's obscure...

The Long Halloween
Those two are the novels I see Nolan adapting well in the sequel. The Long Halloween should be a great influence to use, considering the book included both Harvey Dent and Joker as opposed to how they'll be in the film. I'd like to see a lot of the elements used, as well as the characters such as Meroni. Out of all of them, TLH should be the one used the most.
The Man Who Laughs is mainly for the depiction and inspiration for Batman's first meeting with Joker, and is at times compared to be the sequel to Year One. Killing Joke is where we saw what he could be capable of, by attempting to drive Commissioner Gordon insane. It had both the comedic and maniacal side of the character.
I'd also like to see some lines from the books taken to the screen, if possibe. Such as in The Man Who Laughs, we see Bruce attending a party which he ends up leaving to meet with Gordon. He meets with him at Arkham Asylum where Joker had left another "calling card" which is shown to be a note, that reads. "One by one, they'll hear my call. Then this wicked town will follow my fall." The Killing Joke showed Joker constantly on the perge of having "one very bad day," which ends up playing a huge role in the novel. It also effected Bruce because he had "a very bad day" aswell, when his parents were murdered in front of him. He overcame it of course, and decided to fight for good. While Joker did the complete opposite. The "bad day" that partially drove him insane was the death of his wife, who had died from a traumatic accident. Batman ended up finding Joker, and subdued him.
The Laughing Fish is one of my favorite Joker stories from Detective Comics #475 through issue #476. The Joker's Five way Revenge is the one I'd choose over it, though I like both equally the same. Simply because it had one of my personal favorite quotes of all time, as Batman describes Joker as "A one man plague. He comes, he kills and disappears." Which is something I'd like to see in the sequel.
