Grayskull: Masters of the Universe - Part 2

Hemsworth is definitely not "small". His physique is good enough to play He-Man. He was gigantic in Thor: The Dark World. I don't think a bodybuilder physique is a necessity - even some actor's physique like say Hemsworth in Thor: The Dark World or Gerard Butler in 300 or Henry Cavill in MOS would be good enough.

But this much I will agree, they absolutely should not cast an actor who is not already built. It would take that much more effort for him to achieve the He-Man physique. Somebody like Joe Manganiello or Scott Adkins or Alan Ritchson or the likes, these guys are mostly almost there, and they could achieve the form required in 5-6 months or less.

Hemsworth would undoubtedly have been great casting but Thor is a very very similar role, so he absolutely won't take it under any condition.

I didn't say Hemsworth is small. I said he's too small for the role. He is a pretty big guy, no doubt. But compared to Schwarzenegger, Ferrigno, and Lundgren when they were in their prime? I'm sorry, but there's no comparison. And for the role of He-Man, you want to find someone who is going to look as much like the cartoon character and the original action figure as humanly possible. This isn't as important for the other characters, but for He-Man it is a MUST. Just being ripped isn't enough. He has to be BIG and ripped. I mean, I loved Marc Singer in The Beastmaster, and the guy had an awesome physique (and still does). But he would have been all wrong for the part in the 1987 movie. Dolph looked the part far more than Marc ever did (or ever will), although his acting was pretty bad and I don't think he had ever taken a fencing or kendo class in his entire life (likely why He-Man hardly ever used his sword in that movie).

I'm just saying, give a new guy a chance. He might just surprise everyone and become the Schwarzenegger for a new generation.

Edit: By the way, I don't think that Chris Hemsworth would "not take the role under any circumstances". Just because it's similar to other roles he's played doesn't mean he'll refuse it. If it's well written enough, and/or they offer him enough money, I think he'd probably take it. He'd just need to spend a minimum of a year living in the gym, on a 100% pure protein diet to be anywhere near big enough to pull it off. And even then he might not be big enough.

Agree about "Faora".
For Man-At-Arms, I think Viggo Mortensen could be one of the best choices. It seems that Tom Selleck is too old now.

Any other suggestions for the inventor, the seasoned warrior, the master of weapons and the General of the Royal guards?

If MOTUC had a more comedic element, I'd gladly say Nick Offerman. Unfortunately, his excellent comedic timing would be a distraction from a more serious movie.

I don't think Selleck is too old at all. Other choices though might include Ray Winstone and Terry Crews. I am tempted to say Brian Cox as well, but Duncan should not be more intimidating than Skeletor and Hordak put together.

I like that suggestion. Between his role as Aragorn in LOTR & the drill sergeant in G.I. Jane, he is practically made for the role.

I would once again suggest Gerard Butler for the role of Stratos. As he seemed to had been doing a Sean Connery impression when he played Leonidas in 300, and the voice actor who played Stratos in the 2002 series was pretty much doing the same, it seems to fit. Besides, he's pretty good at doing action movies.

Now we're mapping out the cast :)

Man-At-Arms: Viggo Mortensen
Stratos: Gerard Butler

Then for King Randor, it should be Stellan Skarsgård

I know I might be type casting, but I think Sean Bean would be a better fit for King Randor. His character in Game Of Thrones practically IS King Randor.

Oh, and I definitely like Liam Hemsworth as Prince Adam.

I think it would probably atract too many Thor comparisons

How so? Liam and Chris, while the familial similarities are enough to mistake them for twins, are two very different people. Also, while He-Man and Thor might be very similar characters, Prince Adam and Thor are very, VERY different (as different as Prince Adam and He-Man). And Liam's acting career isn't nearly as hot as his brother's, so this would be an opportunity to get out from under his brother's shadow.

Then we know what will happen with Randor :)

I rather see William Mosely or Rhys Wakefield in the role, before they become too old for the character.

**Keldor stabs Randor through the heart from behind.**

:cmad:: Arrrgh! Curse your treachery, brother!

: Really? You really didn't see this coming. Really.

Oh Liam, sorry, i confused him for Chris

Understandable. When I watched Expendables 2, I thought Liam WAS Chris (like I said, they look like they could be twins).

I actually confuse them due to the "Hermsworth" and considering we were talking about Adam, i don't remember Liam being blonde

The fact that we were talking about Adam and NOT He-Man should've been a clue that we weren't talking about Chris. And I've seen Liam with both blonde and brown hair. I think he dyes it for different roles.

Is there an actual difference between Adam and He-Man besides the powers?

How old should Adam be in the film?
What about Teela's age?

In the original Filmation cartoon, very little (other than the fact I think Adam might have been gay, or at least that's how he comes off to me anyways).

In the 2002 reboot, a LOT. Adam was a slender, athletic, 16 year old kid with a bit of an attitude (and most definitely NOT gay). When he turned into He-Man, he grew about a foot taller, packed on at least twice as much mass, and physically appeared (and sounded) to be at least ten years older. Think "Billy Baxter turning into Captain Marvel".

My preference is for Adam to be in his teens, even early teens, and Teela to be in her early 20s.
Early teens?? Holy bananas!!!
You want him to be that young?

Then they should consider Nathan Gamble or Dakota Goyo.

In his teens? Maybe. Early teens? I think not. There should be some potential for a little Adam/Teela romance, even if it's unrequited, without it coming off as creepy.

Yes, I am completely serious about combining 1980s Teela with 2000s Adam. It lends an impossibility dimension to any romance (which should only be implied anyway). Kids will pick up on things like that (Hunchback, Shrek 1). It ensures that any romantic tension will, by definition, be unconsummated.

But isn't Adam supposed to hook up with Teela and complete the cycle, the two of them beeing the first king and sorceress to be a couple since Greyskull's days?

Where is that from? I do not consider the bio information from the new action figures canon, or even usable material. A company that cannot even figure out an effective supply chain does not belong within 100 miles of this movie. :o

Also: see Skywalker, Anakin and Amidala, Padme (Encyclopedia of Crap Movies).

What version of Shrek were you watching? Once Shrek learned that Fiona turns into an ogre at night he realized that they COULD be together.
