Sucks that this most likely won't make 2015 since they're still in the planning stages, and the director is supposed to be doing another movie soon. I wanna see this s**t.

Interesting... I actually don't see MOTU as being in del Toro's wheelhouse at all. True, there are odd creatures and mythology, but, it seems a different type of mythology than he'd be drawn to (or maybe he is, who knows).

Funny enough I can't think of who a good fit would be. Who's a good cross between David Fincher and Peter Jackson?

Chu seems to be very "into this", he takes the project very seriously. But he doesn't love the MOTU concept itself high enough. In an interview, he said the're taking away stuff that doesn't work, and he adds that most doesn't work. Hmm, shouldn't that be a warning signal? Is Chu really the right man for this? The only thing he's right about is the need to not making it campy
I'm all for something epic, and a grand scope... like "LOTR with high tech elements".
But I don't want the core characters to be kicked out of the story.
He-Man, Man-At-Arms and Teela should have Stratos and Ram Man on their side, just to show that Eternia is more than just humans.
And in possible sequels, the stakes will be bigger. So I cannot see how Mekaneck should be saved for a second film

Maybe you'll get lucky - and by extension we'll all get lucky - and the film will get stuck in development Hell for another century or so. Lord knows that 9 times out of 10 no film adaptation is better than a bad film adaptation.

This is causing me to doubt this project. Why is it every movie director seems to think he knows better than the creator of the mythology?

Yes, King Randor is a much better fit for Dolf Lundgren than He-Man. He just doesn't have what it takes physically to play He-Man any more.
