Just because someone has the best audition for a role doesn't necessarily mean he's best suited for said role. Just look at Hercules in the video below.

Someone send out the Sawyer signal... He needs to see this.

What the hell's the Sawyer signal? A bright white spotlight with the silhouette of a restraining order from Henry Cavill's lawyers?

Jared Padalecki as He-Man?

Hmmmm. . . Maybe. He'd certainly make a good Thundarr. Maybe even a good Conan. He might have to add a few pounds of muscle to be He-Man, but he might actually do a good job.

:barf:

Anyway, no way in hell that he will be cast a lead in a ( theater ) movie.

Apparently not !
Let me backpedal on that .....ha yes , well, it's a remake of Friday 13th, it was maybe 1 week in theater in France in few places. It doesn't count. That movie could have been a DTV, was it even ok ?

Anyway, I guess if MOTU is made, the studio will look for a more known/trendy actor.

Friday The 13th (2009) was a horrendous piece of s**t. But it was a theatrical release.

Given the popularity of Supernatural, Jared Padalecki IS a well known and trendy actor.

I remember him being very depressed.

To be honest I only know him from Supernatural. I am not sure he is that known/trendy outside the show fanbase.

But considering that the people who are fans of Supernatural are likely also fans of Masters Of The Universe, it makes sense to cast him in order to appeal to their target demographic.

If you say so. ( in a good way, not to dismiss your sentence ).
I don't see the relationship between the two, then again, I have no real clue about MOTU beside the old TV show when I was a kid and the movie with Dolf.

I like how none of you have pointed out that Jared Padalecki's head has clearly been photoshopped on another body.

This probably has been discussed before, but I´ve seemed to have been absent from this thread when it happened.....anyway......the subject at hand, is He-Man´s companion Cringer/Battle Cat.

In the animation series from the 80´s Cringer/Battle Cat talked & everything. In the big screen adaptation, should he be allowed to do so?

Interesting question.
I think it depends on the tone of the movie, if it embraces its TV show root yes, if the tone is "serious scifi" maybe not or a telepathic link between He-Man and Cringer ( but that sounds a bit lame ).

Well, yeah, I guess nobody felt they needed to point that out because everyone recognizes my photo shoot from last year.

Yes, but sparingly. Mainly for humourous effect, sounding kind of like Ceasar the ape maybe. Like the characters are used to cats that can talk, but he's like a grumpy old war vet they're used to not hearing from a lot.

Also worth noting, Cringer/Battlecat did NOT talk in the 200x cartoon, which I found strange at the time.

For my part, my fanscript outline has him talking, because it was easier to write. Still not sure if he should in the actual movie, but I think I would go with no.

Another question is how should Prince Adam be depicted? Should he have the pink tights/pants & the purplish shirt or should he have a more manly look?

Wait, so pink tights and a purplish shirt aren't manly?! :(

I'm asking, for a friend.

OK. I´ll be totally honest with this, back when I first the cartoons, I always thought why Prince Adam aka He-Man would wear such colors? I always found it a little hilarious & odd.......& this was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before pink shirts became fashionable among men. times & things have changed now though.....Heck, I now have pink long sleeve dress shirts I wear with my suits/blazers sometimes.

And just like on Eternia, pants are optional with that ensemble.

That looks like a good start. Anyway, specifics like "what shade of purple are Adam's pants?" are what costume tests are for.

BTW, I'm wondering how many people around this thread have even watched the 200x cartoon? Seems like it's not very many.

I have, but personally for me, I prefer the 80´s version.
