Anyone reading this? It's starting off kinda slowly, but I got a kick out of Ollie's performance at his press conference. I wish we had politicians who told it like it is and had the balls that he has. I like McDaniel's art, but I still miss Hester. I wouldn't mind a new artist coming in.

I am liking this so far. I always thought that Winnick was a good writer for Green Arrow.

I added it to my pull list starting with #60. I havent picked up #61 yet, but after reading the last few trades, i decided to start picking it up.

I haven't read this yet, but I'm probably gonna pick it up in tpb eventually. I love McDaniels art and Winick usually writes some good stories.

All I gotta say is: Green Arrow for President.

I wish! There's no way we'd get someone who's that liberal and honest to make it that far in the modern American political system. We can dream, though!

I know. :(

true, I was amused by the press conference, but it took me out of the story. No real politician could get away with being that ballsy.

his assistants being named Tuckman and John Smalls was a cheap gag, too...

I got that feeling, too. Within the first few words of the press conference, the only thing I could think of was, "Well, Ollie's obviously gonna be a one-term mayor." It's possible that Star City is one big, uniformly polarized anomaly, but American political campaigns are, by and large, middle-of-the-road affairs. If you express any passion or controversial views, you're likely to lose a major part of your voters. It's the sad truth of American politics. The people with bold views who could probably effect the best and most sweeping changes are the ones who'll never get elected.

yup, but you gotta admire the fact that he's the same outspoken ollie that we've grown to love over the years. it's cool that he's not trying to act all phony just because he's in that position. i love how he referred to himself as a "horn-dog". :)

The book has potential, but really hasnt grabbed from the first issue like the other OYL books. Ill stay on though.

Yeah. Unrealistic though it may be, it is refreshing to see a take on politics where the honest, ballsy, loud-mouthed leftie actually gets to win and put his money where his mouth is.

I'm a little concerned about the whole Green Arrow thing, though. Is his whole term in office going to be marked by his assistant telling him that there's a juicy case for GA to make a good public appearance on? That'd be kind of lame.

yeah, hopefully that won't last long.

Wow, issue#61 was absolutely awesome. I loved the way GA reappeared again to the Star City public after so many thought he had died. Can't wait for more.

I was thinking about this yesterday, Green Arrow actually has a pretty decent rogue's gallery for 2nd string character, but it needs a couple more recurring villains and some of the rivalries need to be fleshed out a little more. Here's what I've got so far:

Dr. Light
Deathstroke
Merlyn
Onomatopoeia
Solomon Grundy

Am I missing anyone?

They should have Catman come back to show Ollie how much he's improved since their last meeting. Now that Ollie has re-trained himself they're both pretty formidable fighters.

I was thinking about picking this up,I like GA's character.

But I'm picking up enough DC books as is,and I haven't really heard of anything really good about this book from any intelligent posters.

Quiver and Adams' GL/GA are on my to get TPB list,so I'm going to check those out before going monthly.

Oh yea,and GA:Year One can't come soon enough.

Its a pretty average superhero book. Not great, not bad. I wouldnt really highly recommend it.

You mean Anarky? He hasn't really appeared in any GA comics that I've read, but he sounds kinda cool. I'd like to see more of him. Thanks.

Yeah, it's definitely not as good as the Smith/Meltzer/Hester days, but it's not bad. I'm not really digging the current arc too much, but I'm looking forward to seeing him back in Star City. I can't wait for the Connor Hawk mini that's coming up.

Is this series any good right now? Thinking about jumping in. Are we in the middle of an arc?

Nope, an arc just ended, actually. And personally, I'm loving it right now. Not one of the absolute best titles out there, but still really enjoyable. It started off a little slow coming out of OYL, but this past arc was damn good, IMO, and now we've got Batman and Red Hood guest appearances coming up, so it should definitely appeal to the Batfan in you.
