Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

You know, Shazam, just because you don't happen to like Green Arrow, that's no reason for you to dismiss his fans, the quality of some of his comics, or the potential for this show to appeal to wider audiences. I mean, he's basically an urban Robin Hood, and audiences eat up Robin Hood (that is, when the story is actually Robin Hood-like, and not a story about England's war with France that happens to star a soldier named Robin).

Oh good Gravy!! See...that's why I asked if it was okay to NOT like this idea, before I even started!!

Now I'm being accused of dismissing fans..EVEN though I haven't diss any of you!!

Why can't someone have a differing pion on these boards!??? "sigh"

Calm the hell down. I literally couldn't have been any nicer to you with what I had to say there.

Oh I do like heroes with no powers. But outside of BATMAN or now CAPT AMERICA they just don't do well in TV.

Well heroes like who? Not many superheroes made it to tv, far less for non-powered ones. Aquaman and the new Wonder Woman didn't see the light of day, Birds of Prey lasted one season (and they went ahead and gave those characters powers for NO reason), Flash lasted one season, Wonder Woman lasted 3, Batman lasted 3 as well and I think that's it for DC heroes. Smallville is the most successful superhero show in history and fans hate that one (I'm one of the few who gets entertainment value out of it but I get it). Where is this precedent for non-powered heroes on tv at all (aside from the Batman you already mentioned) far less for not doing well?

Amazing. You came into this thread and said you didn't want to be called a troll, then proceeded to make unsubstantiated claims about Green Arrow and superhero TV shows in general. I mean, when has Captain America even had a TV series for you to make that claim?

Pions are hard to breed, bro.

GOOD GRIEF....DON'T TELL ME THAT!!! "SIGH"

And it didn't see the light of day!! Yet here comes GREEN ARROW!!

Errrr....."Arrow" NOT Green Arrow!

It saw the light of day when it was released on iTunes to become the number 1 download and received critically well. It didn't go to series because Dawn Ostroff wanted to make The CW more relationship oriented rather than action and you can see it's effects on shows like Smallville and Supernatural.

If it helps, I haven't liked much of what I've heard, but people respect my opinion, because I'm respectful to theirs.

You're perfectly welcome to having and expressing an opinion. You just haven't stated one yet, just a lot of facts that aren't true and a lot of overly defensive chants when people say you don't have your facts straight.

No. You said I "dismissed" fans. That is not a nice thing to do. And it's something that I have not done.

ALL of my comments have been aimed at Green Arrow as a character and his ability to pull a TV audience big enuff to get ratings!!

Not once have I mentioned even ONE blessed fan.

Now why can't you disagree with the majority opinions without being labeled, on these boards?

And I am calm.

You are the anti-calm. :o

Is this a court of law now?? "Unsubstantiated"??? The show hasn't even started yet. So, everybody's shooting in thr dark! Can't we speculate?? That's not allowed???

Okay forget it.....THIS SHOW WILL BE THE GREATEST EVER. I see no problems with it at all. His costume is the bomb!!

Peace out.....

Anyone know if GA will use some voice changer or do it himself?

Well that was weird.

I kinda hope he uses the voice changer. Beats him being silent and broody which is really the only alternative...Unless he pulls a Batman, which would just be...funny for Ollie.

Hell, it's funny for Batman when Bale does it. :hehe:

I would be down with a voice changer. That was a cool aspect smallville green arrow used. Or amell could just speak differently as ollie/green arrow. Speaking of course if amell is good at voices that is. Take for example tom welling of sv, when he was playing clark he spoke at a lower tone/softer deal. But when he played bad clarks and other altered characters he had a deeper tone which was his actual normal voice.

Voice Changer would be awesome. I hope they go that route... But it could be funny for him to try and hide his Ollie voice.

Kinda hard for me to see but does he have a goatee in the promo pic. Thats one aspect I really missed on Smallville. It would be like Tony Stark not having a goatee

Barely. It's more like just a 5 o'clock shadow than anything. Shame to say that that's pretty accurate to the comics right now.

Yeah, I've seen some shots from the newest series. Looks like they straight ripped off the suit from Smaillville.

lol ooooookay. :o

I completely agree. The current costume in the comics is ridiculously Smallville inspired. Gotta collect as many friends from as many places as they can, I guess.

Here's both back to back, actually.

Ironic that the costume for this show doesn't look like this now so maybe the comics will see some changes too.

Oh, the comic series. Okay, then.

Oh yeah, sorry if I wasnt clear. I did mean that the newest comic series introduced this "ALL-NEW UPDATED ORIGINAL" costume and it was just the Smallville costume lol.
