Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

actually the set photos we seen with the actor playing tommy he does look like he only has a light goatee going on. But the costume photo shows he has a bushier one. So my thought on that is maybe the scenes we are seeing being shot right now with amell and tommy actor could be from flashback before he went missing. And he has the bushier goatee in present time.

i just want to repeat again how excited i am for this show.

hopefully, it doesn't turn out like The Cape ..............

Well that was weird.

I kinda hope he uses the voice changer. Beats him being silent and broody which is really the only alternative...Unless he pulls a Batman, which would just be...funny for Ollie.

Hell, it's funny for Batman when Bale does it. :hehe:

I would be down with a voice changer. That was a cool aspect smallville green arrow used. Or amell could just speak differently as ollie/green arrow. Speaking of course if amell is good at voices that is. Take for example tom welling of sv, when he was playing clark he spoke at a lower tone/softer deal. But when he played bad clarks and other altered characters he had a deeper tone which was his actual normal voice.

Voice Changer would be awesome. I hope they go that route... But it could be funny for him to try and hide his Ollie voice.

Voice changer is cool

How should it be changed if they go with a voice changer? I thought the one used on Smallville made him sound kind of demonic.

Yeah, nothing that deep. Just deeper than his regular voice or at least different enough. Don't need him sounding like a kidnapper or Ghostface.

Ya just a deeper sounding voice and they could have him wear some bluetooth looking thing in ear he takes off that can show is the changer.

No, no no no. Bluetooths in the ear is the most annoying looking thing ever. If the rumor is true that the mask will cover the bottom half of his face, then the mask should be the voice changer.

God, I hope it doesn't. I may be able to accept it, yeah, but I'd prefer just something covering the upper portion of his face.

I don't mean him wearing a bluetooth all the time when he is ga. Just some sort of device he has on himself when he is taking costume off to give fans a device to show as voice changer. I think the lower mask thing wasn't true as we see with costume photo.

Besides, you can't see an earpiece with the hood on anyway. I've always been a fan of that discreet method of communication among superheroes anyway so I wouldn't be bothered by it even if it was seen. Certainly less bothered than a full face mask. I keep imagining a green Azrael.

Well I guess it remains to be seen because in the photo we can't really make out if he has something covering his eyes.

With the design of the costume, full out sunglasses seem like they would clash with the robinhood-esque costume.

I am really excited for the show though. I'm hoping they release some sort of trailer for the thing once they finish filming. Greenarrowtv was saying that we'll know by May 17 if it gets picked up.

We now have a few more roles for the pilot:

Two More Arrow Pilot Cast Members Revealed

CRAIG BYRNE

Thanks to the person who e-mailed at our can-be-anonymous-if-you-want-it-to-be tip line, we now know of two more actors who have been cast in the Arrow pilot.

Darren Shahlavi (Ip Man 2 and “Kano” from Mortal Kombat Legacy) has been shooting for the past few days as a bad guy named Constantine Drakon. The character first appeared in the Judd Winick/Phil Hester run of Green Arrow comics in 2003.

Roger Cross (24, The Gates) also appears in the pilot as a detective.

Got any more tips? Send them our way!
Its cool to hear that a ga comics villain will be in pilot. If it goes to series I hope he is kept for a reoccuring role.

Yes! That's fantastic casting! We're going to see some awesome fights! :woot:

SWEEEEEET.

Drakon is a great villain. We should be in store for some great fight sequences. The cast continues to shape up well.

I hope they don't draw out Merlyn's turn to villainy too much. I mean, with Smallville, it was acceptable because, as far as I'm concerned, Lex's journey was half of the show (at least for as long as he was around). It seems to me that Merlyn should show his true colors by at least the end of the first season.

Would make sense if they plan to make this tommy merlyn, merlyn the comics villain(with new origin). Hell for all we know he may just be a made for tv character and they don't have go bad, and just used the name merlyn for a nod for fans. Sorta like with tess in sv at first was a nod to mercy graves and ms. Tesmacher untill they retcon her to be somewhat that lex sibling from comics.

We may be in store for some great action scenes with the casting of Darren. This series is getting a lot of things right so far.

So, are there any dates they're throwing around as to when this will air if it gets picked up?

well since they are still in the midst of filming, and cw fall upfronts are not to may 17th. We probably wont know to then. My guess though with one tree hill ending this season, and maybe a few other shows getting dropped. The likely places i can see arrow landing are monday(less likely), tuesday(probably), wenesday(fill one tree hill's spot) or friday if they want to bump nikita to wenesday or tuesday. As for actual air date i would say probably anywhere from mid sept week of 17th or the week of 24th- first week of oct range.

lol how fitting to have Arrow after Gossip Girl or 90210.

I'm just praying that at least one of those two doesn't make it to next season. :o

Premiering a show on friday is a terrible idea, though. Even by CW's lowered ratings standards.

Both have basically already been given the greenlight. GG only has 1 season left regardless and they probably want to get 90210 to 100episoes so they can get a syndication deal.

Though if they get rid of HoDixie and Ringer then they will probably move (or atleast smartest move) 90210 back to mondays with GG, if Nikita sticks than that should move to tuesdays with Arrow after it and another supernatural show to air after Supernatural.

But they really need to launch a show on wednesday that actually does decent since OTH and ANTM are the only 2 that actually got/get decent ratings and its so hard to pair something with ANTM though I imagine Carrie Diaries will air after that if it gets picked up.

I had a thought with Merlyn that it would be ridiculous for him to suddenly become Ollie's equal with a bow if there'd been no prior indication of interest in it. Therefore a smart move could be that his friend Merlyn finds out his father (who left him as a baby) is actually an assassin who specializes in the bow. Then we have some inner conflict of allegiance, and when Ollie makes the connection he wants to protect his friend but has to obviously take down the father

A lot of us know that Green Arrow was modeled after Batman and the Golden Archer. Little do people know, though that he was inspired by a character called the Green Archer, which was based on a 1923 Edgar Wallace novel. That story became a serial back in the 1940's here is a trailer of the Green Archer:

That one sounds similar to Norman and Harry Osborn. Still a great idea though. I've never cared for the comic version of Merlyn so I'm sure they can do something interesting with the character.

I'd go for Merlyn training to become as good as Oliver. Maybe introduce Satanas as his mentor and eventually Ollie's.

Also, interesting news about Drakon. This indicates there's been some rewrites from the Script review of a while back, which only featured Adam Hunt as a villain.
