Gtaiv delayed

Let me break it down for you then. The only reason I bought a PS3 this summer instead of waiting this fall till after GTAIV was released was bc the price was dropped $100. If that had not have happened, then I would have waited till Nov to get a PS3. Understand now?

he understands now because you wrote in english rather than ****wit

ah crap, well less I have to spend between now and the end of the year

Edit: Why is this terrible for Sony being it no longer exclusive? Were that many people going to pick up PS3s for this game when they could go cheaper with a Xbox360?

Oh i get it get it. Before you weren't talking clear or talking talk clear. I know what your saying understand get. I'm sorry that misunderstand was be.

I had no idea how f****ed up this board was.

I take it back. I knew.

How the hell did this come back to PS3? Come on, gentlemen. Please, just let the news marinate and go somewhere and have a coke and a smile.

Because the PS3 is so starved for good must-have games, that losing this one game is crucial, whereas the XBOX360 has plenty already and plenty coming this Fall still to keep up interest to new console buyers.

Think of it like this: Sony is a bum and Microsoft is Bill Gates (lol, actually it kinda is). The Bum and Bill Gates just found out that their $100 check is late in the mail and won't get to them until a few months after they first expected.
Sure they are both losing the same amount, but that $100 was MUCH more needed by The Bum, whereas Bill can afford to wait for it.

:D

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm gonna let you take this round.

You deserve it.

Both of them are true though. The PSOne and PS2 both had little actual competition. The N64 was still selling expensive cartridge games and was at the latter days of Nintendo's downfall in popularity. The DC was dead on arrival and that let the PS2 flourish as the only decent console for two full years. Much of the popularity of the system was due to having little actual competition for the market.

As well as many of the PS loyalists now having problems with the way Sony is doing business and/or the console's expensiveness. Considering how Japan has turned it's back on the system in favor of the Wii.

Many big titles left for PS3 this year, as mentioned by Zenien

heavenly sword you dumb ****.

It depends on how well Heavenly Sword does. It could go the same route as Lair, getting inconsistent reviews and thus turning off some buyers. Or it could be plain bad. Or it could be absolutely awesome.

Who knows? It's an untested IP and should be treated as such.

Lair doesn't have inconsistent reviews, it has three reviews. Little early to judge I'd say

so far, but it's only three. If the rest of the common reviewers are positive and it leaves two bad ones, then overall it will have consistently positive reviews. I'm just saying lets see all of them before we give the game a general feel on reception

Things like MGS4 will be hitting in March, so oh well. PS3 still has enough momentum and good games to have a good Christmas.

Lair is one of the lower key PS3 titles. The biggest games for Sony will be Haze, Unreal Tournament III Not going to be big, Heavenly Sword, Hot Shots Golf 5, Folklore, Uncharted Drakes Fortune, Singstar, Ratchet and Clank Future. Not counting Multiplatform releases like CoD4 etc.

The biggest title? Probably Ratchet and Clank or Uncharted.

Games like Haze and Unreal Tournament 3 aren't going to be "big games" for the PS3. They'll sell a few hundred thousand copies at best but they won't be runaway success million sellers.

Heavenly Sword is going to disappoint a lot of people. This game has come a long way from it's (very humble) roots, but it's still lacking the thing that would have made it great.

Hot Shots Golf 5... are you serious?

Folklore is already getting bad reviews, and in all honesty, this game doesn't look exciting in any way, shape or form.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (my own reservations aside) is going to be a good quality game from a good developer, I'm sure, but as a new IP on a system that's still not popular it's not going to take off in any meaningful way. You can expect this to do "Haze" numbers, unless they get some Microsoft-style marketting behind it.

Singstar is a Karaoke game (with a mediocre history) launching next to Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band. It's going to be annihilated.

Ratchet and Clank Future will probably be the PS3's commercial-critical hit of the Christmas season. However, if this is going to go up against Halo 3 and Mass Effect, it's going to need the freaking pinnacle of marketing to make a dent.

Multiplatform releases aren't going to be a big deal this Christmas. Call of Duty 4 will do much better on the Xbox360 and Assassin's Creed should as well. Sony's big multiplatform game was, again, GTA4 due to their historical pact with Rockstar (in the same way the Clancy games are related to the Xbox).

Anyway, I feel like of all the (non-GTA4) games, that Lair has the best chance of getting the big-push going. It is mature, visceral, inventive and has great art direction. Despite the gameplay apparently having problems, I still see more people talking about that than Ratchet and Clank. However, GTA4 was the big deal of the season, and now there's nothing on a Sony system that people would want to talk about over Halo 3.\

Christmas for Sony = :down

Well said WHF.

I really dont think that a dev could do anything more annoying than push the release date back. I really am getting tired of these false release dates from the different developers(Ubisoft is becoming notorious for this). I mean its not necessarily a big deal, as ill get the game when it comes out but i really really get annoyed when people don't live up to their word. Granted i understand the reasons behind it, i want the developer to make sure the game is perfect, but if a game developer/publisher isnt 100% sure theyll make the date they say, then they needn't not release any kind of date info at all.

Christmas for Sony = :down

What happens afterwards, WHF? After Christmas, that is. I kinda wanna know what you think will happen to both. The PS3 isn't trying to dominate this year like Microsoft, they're waiting in the wings 'til next year IMO. I honestly do not see what Microsoft has that will blow us away next year. They're laying out their best hand right now. Since we're approaching year 3 for them, it seems logical. The system only has about 2 to 3 more years left. (not that I'm saying the demand will plummet or something, but it's a 5-6 year thing). Put that straight flush down. That's why I said..."SONY...JUST SURVIVE UNTIL NEXT YEAR."

Really? Because reception towards the demo was pretty positive. I know there's no chance that you will ever give an honest opinion (or should I say an unbiased one) about Heavenly Sword or Ninja Theory, but the game isn't going to end up disappointing people. Whatever makes a game great to you is still purely subjective. You've talked an obscene amount of trash about a game you've never had a clue about, to be honest.

Hot Shots Golf 5... are you serious?

Hot Shots is pretty popular WHF. Not just in Japan.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (my own reservations aside) is going to be a good quality game from a good developer, I'm sure, but as a new IP on a system that's still not popular it's not going to take off in any meaningful way. You can expect this to do "Haze" numbers, unless they get some Microsoft-style marketing behind it.

You do realize the lowest selling core Naughty Dog game on the PS2 was about 1.5 million units for its first month? You act oblivious to any game that isn't Halo, some PC game, or an RPG from Bethesda, I can pull out sales numbers that as far as you are concerned must exist in some parallel dimension.

Singstar is a Karaoke game (with a mediocre history) launching next to Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band. It's going to be annihilated.

Singstar is huge in Europe, huge.

Ratchet and Clank Future will probably be the PS3's commercial-critical hit of the Christmas season. However, if this is going to go up against Halo 3 and Mass Effect, it's going to need the freaking pinnacle of marketing to make a dent.

Ratchet and Clank games sell a bit better then you might think. Yes being on a smaller install base will limit its initial sales, no they won't be as small as you're thinking.

The big game for Sony was not GTA, since everyone knew it would be on the 360 at the same time and probably sell a bit better on the 360. Losing it is not a blow to Sony, that games impact for both consoles has just been pushed back a bit. For SOny it's about building a catalogue not any one killer app, it worked for them well enough in the PS2 days, and their first party is bigger and stronger then ever now. Sony will be fine, even though they probably won't beat Microsoft this Christmas, they weren't going to even with GTA.

Anyway, I feel like of all the (non-GTA4) games, that Lair has the best chance of getting the big-push going. It is mature, visceral, inventive and has great art direction. Fable 2? Too Human? Banjo Kazooie? They still have some tricks up their sleeve.

The big game for Sony was not GTA.

O, i dont know about that one. There isnt another game coming out this holiday for the PS3 that would have sold as many copies as Grand Theft Auto 4.

Fable 2? Too Human? Banjo Kazooie? They still have some tricks up their sleeve.

Not one of those is a blockbuster IMO. Banjo Kazooie is one I just have undying love for, but I honestly don't see people lining up for any of those.

Fable 2 is going to be a pretty big title. As critically acclaimed as the last one was, yea, it'll be a pretty big game.

I'm looking at it from the perspective of what games are actually exclusive. GTA lost it's power and a system seller versus the 360 when it became a day and date multiplatform title. People traditionally associate GTA with Sony, but not when it's hitting the same time on their competitors platform that has a little over 10 million units sold.

Depends, I'm looking at it from the perspective of what games are actually exclusive. GTA lost it's power and a system seller versus the 360 when it because a day and date multiplatform title.

Ah i see what ya mean, but still i dont see another game for that system selling as many copies as GTA IV, regardless of what other systems it goes to.

I agree with you, the highest selling game this christmas will be Halo 3, though I'd much prefer it be Half Life 2 associated products.
