$7 million yesterday, so about $183 million domestic going into the weekend.

That was a good, solid first week. I thought 40M was optimistic, but possible, and it came in just a few million under that. 68M is just a couple under my optimistic 70M. So, if those figures hold, I'd say that is a very, very strong first 10 days.

EDIT: I'd say that with about 250M by the end of the weekend and anything approaching a 70M weekend, we are definitely looking at quite high 300Ms and possibly reaching 400M. Those are very, very good numbers.

I'm not ready to buy into $400 million just yet, but I feel a lot better about $350 million.

Let's hope we continue giving it money through today and into the weekend starting tomorrow. I know I will. Seeing it again tomorrow in IMAX 3D.

Yeah. I didn't mean to imply that I thought it was going to reach 400M. That's optimistic to be sure. "If" it can hit 70M this weekend (a stretch, but that's what BOM is guessing), I think it puts 400M in play. Given the 2nd weekend generally shows the most significant drop, a 3X multiplier from the 2nd weekend BO #s isn't really out of the question. That would put it right on the heels of 400M.

That's the logic I used anyway.

I was thinking a little lower, like 340-350, but maybe I'm just pessimistic.

I'm thinking 365-385 m.

Don't forget the Memorial Day weekend bump.

deadline estimates are against matinees only. I think the numbers will go up, probably -55% King Arthur is tracking at 15M, so I think a lot of people are going to opt for guardians instead.

Estimates dropping for all the films. GotG 62 > 60, Snatched 20 > 16, Arthur 16 > 14. Just looks like a slow weekend at the box office.

Friday estimate is $16,427,000 according to boxofficemojo.

Looks like it will get a weekend around 60M, so a 59% drop, pretty much like other MCU sequels (CW and AoU both had a 59% drop as well)

Wow I didn't think Snatched would do that well. I didn't see any promo for it.
Never even saw the trailer before any movies

The predictions for the weekend are around 60M which it would mean GOTG2 would end up with 245M domestically after its second weekend. GOTG did 176M. So a 69M increase from the first movie.

14M for King Arthur! BOMB!

14M domestic OW with a $175M production budget for arthur. Ouch.

International isn't much better either with a 6.8M opening day overseas. It might not even make it to $100M WW.
At least GotG won't have to worry about competition from that movie lol

I think it's counter programming for women who didn't want to see Baby Groot (for shame!)

I wonder about something. If Guardians 2 makes $65M this weekend and has a less steeper drop than the other Marvel sequels, could it manage to barely top Alien: Covenant next week or tie it with $37-40M for both movies? Because right now, Box Office Pro predicts a $37M OW for A:C.
