Wow, what a random pairing. Any reason for that other than your own weirdness?

I see no reason why she shouldn't. I mean, the whole reason she and whats her name were even in a relationship is because of some fourth Wall breaking shenanigans at the end of PAD's Captain Marvel run. Before she was suddenly in love with emo b***h, she was crushing hard on Rick Jones.

No, Cloud's a chick...sort of.

Weren't Marlo and Moondragon together for a while in Captain Marvel? Then Rick and Marlo got back together, I think, and Phyla hit on Moondragon right at the end of the series.

Actually, did you know I'm secretly hoping Peter and Mantis hook up...they just work well together.

My pairings all make perfect sense, thank you very much.

Phyla + Rocket FTW.

Hey, if Howard the Duck can bed Lea Thompson, then anything is possible.

Howard was big on cigars, and I think Bill Clinton could relate about that. :p

I'm not sure I am "shipping" on any "couple" right now in GOTG. Moondragon has been written as a lesbian since the 90's but she did pine for some male characters earlier, so she may be considered "bi-curious" if not bisexual. Before bedding Nova, Gamora hung around Adam Warlock for ages in his Infinity Watch group so it made sense that she freaked out after Phyla "stabbed" him, and would be the most afraid of Magus, since she already lived through a few Magus stories.

Mantis once married a plant clone of Swordsman, of all people, so she apparently likes Europeans with facial hair. I think Kang used to chase her for a while when she was "the Celestial Madonna" and hey, he'll be popping up soon. Still, chasing her through time and space just to sire a universal messiah figure is basically like being a Time Traveling Attempted Rapist, so who knows.

Peter Quill is a good "John Crichton" style leader (even if he technically isn't exactly human, even if he looks human) so it seems strange he hasn't had a romantic subplot yet. As for Bug, who knows. Jack Flag probably deserves some love as well; personally I find it amazing and incredible, in good ways, that an F-Lister like him that Warren Ellis had mutilated in THUNDERBOLTS for a shock value moment has been saved from such obscurity and now is doing some great things in a new venue. It's totally unexpected - a CAPTAIN AMERICA wanna-be and hanger on from the 90's suddenly becoming a regular cast member on a space adventurer team - but it has worked out well so far.

What's even more awesome is how uncomfortable the whole space thing is to him. It's rather hilarious. :funny:

You have the weirdest ideas for couples.

Dread: GotG seems to have inherited a bit of Captain America fanboyism from the previous version of the title. They've got Vance with his Cap shield, Killraven and other GotG leaders have also had Cap shields in other realities, etc. Maybe Jack Flag being a Cap wannabe is why DnA chose him in the first place and ties into his whole "chosen one" subplot.

Cap's shield in a lot of alternate realities seems to survive practically any post-apocalypse and thus be used as a weapon. His values are easy to understand and fight for even after the man himself has been gone for centuries. Lord knows DC's LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES was greatly inspired by Superman and the heroes of their older times, why else proudly go by retro names like "Lightening Lad"?

It is a little odd to have both Major Victory and Jack Flag filling that role, given that both are inspired by Cap, albeit one is from a thousand years in the future and the other is from modern times. It may be because Abnett & Lanning wanted another "green" member of the team, since after a year or so, everyone else had experience.

I love this series. Hope it has a nice, healthy run. (like the 90s series)

So far at 18 issues, it's had a longer run than CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI-13, AGENTS OF ATLAS, and THE THING. I expect it to last to issue #25 unless sales get really dire. It seems that while the hardcore Marvel space fan audience is not large, perhaps 22-26k or so, they are loyal, and can keep a big event book like WAR OF KINGS selling over 40k for a run.
