Saw the movie on Friday. It was awesome.
Awesome! I disagree with the top but I am really glad to hear that you liked it. What would rate it out of 10?

I still geek out at the Raimi franchise yet I want to see the new movie hoping it would be much better than Spider-Man 2 :o

There is not even 100 reviews, guys. Top critics and such have no consensus yet because the reviews are not there yet for that. But, I do think the 70s range for % will stick.

Yeah, 70s are most likely at this point unless we gave a wave of positive reviews. There is a tiny chance of being in the early 80s, but I imagine it will end up being around 75%.

It has climbed out of the 70's many times.

I expect to see it do so again and again.

We may not know where it falls until Friday or Saturday.

It's easy to fall out of an area when you have a low amount of reviews. As the amount of reviews go up, the percentage changes decrease. It takes more reviews to move the rating now than before. I see it ending up in the 75% neighborhood.

Is the world going to end if it ends up at 75%?

and we will know by Monday where it's going to end up at. the majority of the remainder reviews will come in tomorrow.

No the world will not end.

I'm just saying it's only 3 points away from 80% so it could climb back out of the 70's.

We still have over 100 reviews to go.

It is still 7.8 on imdb but from now 5,963 users.

More like around 150.
There'll be between 210-250 reviews.
We're barley in the 70s.

I predict 82-85%

I'm guessing around 75-80% fresh for ASM as well.

why are we all so obsessed with the RT rating?? lol

It could make a difference if Webb directs again, what type of movie ASM2 will be, even how other CBM reboots are handled in the future, and how the public views the movie as a critical success or not.

Yeah, it matters to some extent.

You haven't seen the movie yet, but you're worried about whether Webb will return? You can't say that you're sure he's the right guy for the job yet. Same goes for TASM2. Other CBM reboots will be handled how they'll be handled. BB and TIH did their own thing, now TASM is doing theirs. What happens happens. And finally, who cares what the public thinks? You're watching this movie for you and no one else.

No I can't feel apathy at this point.

Let me put it this way. If Batman Begins leading up to the release had a flood of Schumacher fans saying Nolan's vision was wrong after you spent a a full decade (since Batman Forever) hoping for a more grounded and respectable version that explored previously ignored aspects of the character, would you just have apathy toward Batman Begins or would you openly root for the movie to succeed???

There's a difference between "openly rooting for a movie to succeed" and "taking every negative opinion personally."

I don't think I'm taking it personally.

It is good to see people who unjustly rallied against this movie proven wrong though.

Wow that is an awesome score. Was the movie noticeably darker, or should I say more grounded than SM1 with less cheese?

Both! First, yeah, less cheese (just a sprinkle of parmesean this time, as opposed to the glops of whiz that the Raimi films were bogged down in). More mature and realistic dialogue and interpretations of the characters. A bit darker. The Lizard is a LOT more sympathetic than DaFoe's maniacal Norman Osborn. And (don't click this unless you really don't care about being spoiled)
Uncle Ben's death was tragic for how Peter obsessed over his last voicemail as opposed to last words, and equally tragic was the death of Captain Stacy near the end. Really shocking and upsetting.
.

And...

The action was flippin' amazing. You can't blame the inferior action of Raimi's films on him. This is due to 10 years of advancement in CGI. But it definitely looks awesome now. It makes Maguire's Spidey look as slow as Nick Hammond's in comparison. :oldrazz:

Finally....

The plot details deviate a little more from the comic than the Raimi films, but I think spiritually it's actually closer to the comic. You'll see what I mean.
