Guess What?! They're rebooting THE MUMMY! - Part 2

It really has nothing to do with Wonder Woman at all. This whole enterprise was a dumb idea. And it all boils down to essentially making Tom Cruise, TOM CRUISE, the Mummy.
that's 's mostly the studio's obsession once he came on board prior to that the script was bad in general. any movie that was written better would have slaughter it. when you think about it has nothing to do with any of those other movies, that will be it's competition . it's about the makers of this movie having a poor script and thinking a major star's name or how hot they are will save it cause people always think that's what will save a movie or tv series when they have poor script.

which has been a problem for a very long while now. and they've been shown many time's that not the case. yet they still do that mentally often . it's like some saying that Megan fox 's character's hotness in the jonah hex movie saved or will save it. there always some people that think way this.

yeah their attractive & they can act but if the scripts bad there just isn't any saving a movie

This man is a hero.

I mean, I'd obviously take his version over this monstrosity in a heartbeat but...is he under the impression his films were somehow critically acclaimed?

I doubt it but they were at least popular in their time

I enjoyed the first one. It wasn't amazing or anything, but it worked as a fun, Indiana Jones-esque popcorn adventure film.

The first one was indeed a lot of fun, but the second one was a dumpster fire and the third one shouldn't have even been made.

The first movie is great and has only improved with time.

I enjoy the first one a lot and the second is a guilty pleasure that only becomes hot ass for me when The Scorpion King's CG abomination comes around. I do like The Scorpion King movie too. Again, it's hot ass, but I enjoy it. The third Mummy movie though is unwatchable. It's so horrid.

My ramblings...

I gotta say I was feeling it... for the first half. It plays like a solid Mummy movie that's got action/adventure and humor. I thought Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella were the best things about it. Christopher McQuarrie is one of the many writers in it and you can tell he only wrote lines for Tom Cruise. Where this movie kinda falls apart is the them forcing the Monster Universe they want to bring. This movie plays out exactly like Iron Man 2 to where the first half was really solid, but the second half was convoluted and messy. Also this movie use hallucinations/flashbacks way too much. Overall, it's not as bad as everyone saying it is, but it's pretty mediocre.
6.5/10

I agree that its pretty solid for a good while.
The opening exposition dump and everything after they capture the mummy is just turrible. Very derivative.

Well, the first movie has an actual fanbase to speak of and was commercially successful, which already puts it head and shoulders above Tom Cruise's.

I just find it odd he'd use critics' scores to make his point using the "if it ain't broke" expression. Critics obviously thought his were "broke" as well. Just not quite AS bad, lol.

I really think if they kept the same script..but had Kurtzman's friend (or former buddy?) JJ Abrams direct The Mummy, the movie would've been much funner and enjoyable.

Had a free Fandango ticket so I saw it again. While I'm still 100% on board with what Universal is attempting a lot of The Mummy's flaws stuck out even more to me. That scene with Nick and Jenny in the bar was so utterly useless. She just recounted the plot that we'd heard a hundred times over by then.

I still really liked Boutella as The Mummy and hope she comes back in some capacity. She gives a great performance.

I was thinking that perhaps what the Dark Universe is building to is the so called Monsters vs Prodigium? Jekyll could go Hyde and lead Prodigium to hunting the good monsters? Just a thought. They've still given no indication as to what they're building all this towards.

Especially since one was really good the other was okay and the final film was terrible.

The Mummy 3 sort of "broke" things.

But nobody was really asking anybody to fix the franchise either.
