Honestly the Nepal opening was better than the climax IMHO. They had to shoot around the fact that they only had Bruno, Arnie and Carlos for a couple of days and Statham vs. Adkins/Sly vs. Van Damme had their allocated shooting time cut, it all translated to a rushed finale. The opener (And the Ex1 finale) had more room to breathe and they feel more fully formed.
Yeah he was great, just wish he had more to do, especially in the finale, would have been nice to maybe see him taking down an Expendable hand-to-hand before fighting Sly.
Well thats a damn shame, loved the finale we got but Sly vs JCVD and Statham vs Adkins, while awesome, definately could have done with more meat to them, they both seemed over far too quickly, the fights in the first movie seemed more satisfying.
I thought JC the VD did a really good job as a villain in the movie.
I wouldn't say JCVD is a great actor , but he's better than people give him credit for.
Oh yeah, I could not agree more.. I was getting at the persona he put out as a villian was great.. they could have done allot more with his character. And Im not the biggest JCVD fan either.
Statham and Adkins can't catch a break. Adkins was originally cast as the main villain of Safe. But he didn't get his visa issued in time and they had to re cast to Anson Mount. Which is why that film's ending is so abrupt.
Yeah absolutely. The whole EX1 climax felt more fulfilling.
Even though he's kicking on a bit, JCVD's got more on-screen charisma than most of the new, younger, action guys. Saying that, the same could be said of most of the old guard (Sly, Arnie etc).
With the first film earning $274.5 million and the second $300.4 million at theaters worldwide, it is almost guaranteed that Lionsgate will be making The Expendables 3 and it sounds like they have a big addition for the third installment lined up.
Talking at a press conference for CZ12 in Kuala Lumpur, Jackie Chan said he is on board. "Sly had invited me to be in 'Expendables 2' but I was too busy filming 'CZ12' and couldn't make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."
He added that he hoped the third installment of the franchise would run along the lines of a 'buddy-buddy' movie should Chan be starring in it, to which Sylvester Stallone obliged.
Chan said he also hopes to be reteaming with his "Rush Hour" co-star Chris Tucker soon. The script they are currently working with is for a movie with the title Skip Tracer, but the actor said it could be turned into Rush Hour 4.
"The script is currently viewed by Chris Tucker," he said. "Personally, I feel that if he were to pick it up, it would be better if we turned it into 'Rush Hour 4,' but I do think that three movies for the franchise is a perfect ending. It would be better to start a new buddy movie with someone new."
