Guillermo del Toro's The Strain coming to FX - Part 1

I'm really getting tired of Eichorst's being the villain in every episode and running away, but i'm glad we're getting more turf war elements, just wished Eichorst wasn't always the villain but the backstory was really good.

I didn't understand how he got away so easily when they were back at his room and there wasn't anywhere to go from there.

Well, the fact that he was able to come and go from that room all this time, despite the stairwell being bricked up, implies there's another entrance. Dutch just didn't know about it.

That was a great episode. While this may not be the best TV show out it's definitely a huge guilty pleasure of mine. Glad Dutch pulled through. I really have grown to love that character.

Eichorst is a sick freak! :barf: I am glad Dutch escaped that hideous fate, and in the flashbacks the chicken**** way he sold out the Jewish girl, man, he is definitely the most vile and evil villain on any show I currently watch, when he finally gets his comeuppance I hope it's not swift.

I thought the actress that p[lays Dutch was great in this ep and I liked how the character fought to maintain her feisty bravado in the face of such an horrific situation.

One thing though as I missed a few minutes, where did she get the spray from?

I'm glad there was a logical reason why Abe wasn't killed by the guy who stopped him getting the Lumen.

So who was looking after Zack again?

My theory is they keep leaving him alone in the hope that his mother will come and get him while they are gone so they can be rid of him. :sly:

Given the amount of times he has escaped in an episode as his plan is foiled I feel he needs too yell "I would have gotten away with it, if not for you pesky kids! :argh:"

Dutch got the silver spray from the dead cop. She used her feet to get it off his belt.

Nitpick : so the Occido Lumen guy will sold the book to a low life criminal expecting more money from him than from Palmer or Setrakian ? mmh ...
Eichhorst's flasbacks humanized him a bit.

That scene with Eichorst and Dutch was actually hard to watch. I've never felt that way about a tv show before. But that really was disturbing. I was so glad when she kicked his ass and got free.

I'm a bit annoyed with this weird dude and his Lumen ****. It feels like it's dragging.

It's dragging because the Lumen seems to be a key item to fight the vampires, the team can't get its hands on it too soon for story sake.
Btw, I roughly translated "Occido Lumen" to "the Fall of Light" or" The Death of the Light".

Yeah I know what the Lumen is. I read the books, but it's been so long since I read book two that I don't remember how much of what's happenings is different from the books, but I don't think I was as bored by the quest for the Lumen as I am here.

If Eichorst didn't try and deliver villainous monologues before killing he would be more effective. The evil Nazis likes taunting his victims.

No Zack this week was a bonus.

The thought of what Eichorst was going to do to Dutches private parts…:barf:.

It was, however, good seeing some backstory on him, pre-Nazi.

The pepper spray she got from the cop; was it just regular pepper spray, or something the cops were given to fight the 'infected'?

I guess when you've been without a penis for 70 years you've got to improvise....

From the looks of how he reacted I am guessing there was silver.

Those Dutch/Eichorst scenes are even scarier than most of the horror/slasher films we're getting right now. Kudos to the actors especially to the one playing Dutch. She really sold her scenes. I love how despite being terrorrized, she still fought like hell. I wanted to look away when Eichorst told her to bend over. :(

Anyone laughed at that last scene with Eph and Nora? Nora's SO done with Eph! It's like she's thinking, "You would NEVER save me like that!" :hehe:

Glad the Guptas storyline is over. It's time for some Gus/Quinlan ass kicking!

I looked at it as Eph expressing to Nora that she was right about preventing Palmer's life was a bad idea b/c look at what it cost him and Dutch. Not to mention that he nearly killed the wrong person instead of Palmer. Definitely will have some repercussions from it.

Decent episode so far. I haven't read the books, but they definitely seem to have done a good job with casting Quinlan. Through his few appearances so far, every scene he's been in has felt important. The actor brings some solid weight to the role. It would be easy to seem cheesy or over-the-top in that makeup.

Dutch is un-f***ing-believable with her choice of staying with Nikki...

I just started the season watching On Demand. I have some of the same reservations as last season only three episodes in. Again, the flashbacks are strong, I really like most of the characters and most of the actors (that kid though... Yeah, the writing AND the acting is pretty weak) but again the showrunners have the characters making odd choices or maybe THEY the writers are making odd choices. I understand adapting a book in long form means getting to work a lot more into the final product than say a movie but is Eph's alcoholism really important enough to focus on? Is it really all that realistic that two of our heroes would take time out to screw while clearing out buildings of vamps? I mean... Really? (Why are you washing silver off your skin anyway... Wouldn't that be an ADVANTAGE when fighting these things? Wash off when you get back to base.)

That said... I am still sucked into the show, the plot, the villains and I want to see the ending. But I guess I will have to put up with the silliness/stupidity to get to the good stuff.

She shouldn't have gone back to her. :argh:

Always nice seeing Gus

Ultimately underwhelming episode, but the second to last usually is. It's all about setting up that big season finale. Quinlan should show up to the Lumen deal and just wipe out Eichorst and Palmer and be done with it. I know he won't, but damn. Too easy.
