Guillermo del Toro's The Strain coming to FX - Part 1

Snazzy new title sequence but even Stormtroopers would be embarrassed by the lack of shooting accuracy of the good guys on this show.

Not trying to go there but........I kind of have to. I haven't read the books but was ole girl a lesbian in them? I mean, it almost seems kind of forced in this show. She was sleeping with dude now she's in love with ole girl again...............I don't know man.

I'm not sure what's confusing man, she's just Bisexual.

Hey man! I like girl/girl action just as much as the next man but this seems a tad bit forced. It doesn't even seem natural. Not trying to be that guy but just being real. It's like they are forcing..............eh, never mind. To drunk to debate this ish. :csad:

Loving the new comic-style opening credit titles.

What doesn't seem "natural" about it? She is bisexual. Her girlfriend ran off into the night during a vampire siege and Dutch thought she died. Since Dutch is bisexual and Fet is a nice handsome guy that she was attracted to it makes sense that they would hookup. Then her girlfriend turned out to be alive and Dutch went back to the girl she loves. It's perfectly natural and normal human behavior. The genders of the people involved don't really matter.

Watched the first 2 episodes of the 2nd season, great start, I LOVED the recounting of the Sardu story, one of my favourite part of the books was done perfectly.

Abraham Setrakian and Mr. Quinlan need to permanently team up. Abraham Whistler needs his Blade.

I don't think it looked forced so much as awkwardly executed. There was this whole thing between her and Fet, then suddenly not because the not-so-dead-girlfriend was back in the picture and Dutch practically abandoned Fet without a second thought leaving him confused as to what the hell just happened.

It seemed like initially a fling but it might have been getting more serious but there was some inconsistency with that (like everything else on the show).

I'm placing this on spoiler tags because it refers to something from the books but it's in relation to the Fet/Dutch thing -

In the books, Fet and Nora are endgame so I think this whole "Dutch still in love with her ex" deal is just to slowly make way to Fet and Nora being a couple. There's already been hints here and there especially with the most recent episode where the two were working together.

Yeah, it was a slow development in the books as well, they have another 3 and a half seasons to develop that so needed something to pad it out I would imagine.

That's Eph'd up! :rimshot:

Yeah, you could see where they were heading with the glances and arm touch in the last ep, and the way Fet sort of passed the Dutch to her girlfriend at the end.

Abraham Setrakian has more lives than a damn cat!

That's what I'm saying. I have nothing against that life but this seems like it came way out of left field and like it was just stuck in there just for the heck of it. It is so badly out of the blue that it doesn't even seem to fit.

I'm not liking the whole love triangle thing (if that's what it is). I don't see how it adds to the story

I suppose it's a clumsy attempt at character development. :p

As a non-book reader, I'm not getting any vibes between them. Maybe they will go a different route in the show.

It's seemingly no longer a triangle at least, but it was some half assed character development.

As much as I like the show it does not do characters very well.

Yup. I was right, the extended opening titles were used to pad out the runtime of the episode last week. Back to the original this week.

Justine, [blackout]you're my hero! You go tell 'em! The Mayor got outplayed so bad. :lmao:[/blackout]

I'm liking Nora armed with a sword.

Episode 10 "The Assassin" Eph should have went for the double shot when he fired at Palmer. The vampire attack on the the police station and Nora and Vasiliy Fet coming to the rescue was pretty cool though. Finally Setrakian finds the Occido Lumen I wasn't expecting him to get sucker punched and lose it though. Things are looking really bad for Dutch Velders now that she's the prisoner of Eichhorst.

So much for our theories
that Coco is a double agent. Seems liker purpose in this show is now clear. Blah.

The Lumen was very cool. It also showed a bit about the (book spoilers) [blackout]origin of the Master and the Ancients.[/blackout]

Poor Dutch. I actually like her (minus the whole love triangle crap). That last scene reminded me of Saw. I had to laugh that of course in the preview for next week, Eichorst is giving her make up. Eichorst is really Team Master's make up artist! :lmao:

Unfortunately it isn't looking good for Dutch. I hope I'm wrong, but it's doubtful that she'll get out of Eichhorst's clutches alive or uninfected. :csad:
