Guillermo del Toro's The Strain coming to FX - Part 1

I just finished the books. Gonna be interesting seeing them adapt some of that stuff. Also, what's this Vaun **** I'm hearing? I haven't seen any of episode 2 yet, but I thought that Vaun guy was Quinlan?

Until very recently Stephen McHattie's character was mislabeled as Mr Quinlan on IMDB and various wikis.

Catching up on season 2. The new Zack is just as annoying. That's the character though. Hated the ever loving **** out of him in the books.

Staten Island, not joking around.

Wow. Never read the book and I'm shocked old dude has been taking the worms.

I feel like I did not have that much of a problem with the kid last season but this season....I can't.

Not even Carl annoyed me as much.

I am surprised that the Ninja Vamps performed as poorly as they did.

I am now officially fed up with that little bastard...

"Fort Defiance" Great opening with Bolivar and the cops. Glad to see Gus back and I liked the scene where Vaun is training him especially Gus ripping out the Strigoi's stinger. Loved the reveal that Setrakian uses the vampire worms to stay alive. Zack has become a very unlikable character. The plot to kidnap Eldritch Palmer was interesting and his UV trap was pretty cool. I was not expecting them to kill off Vaun and the rest of the hunters that was crazy.

If Vaun and his Hunters are dead, then this show lost some serious cool points.

That kid is in danger of sinking this show. He is insufferable.

Short of spoiling things for people.

The kid is portraying the Zachary character well.

Yes he probably needs to die

I didn't hate Zack this much in the books. At least his obnoxious kid angst felt more natural. This surly, grumpy turd of a kid they got in the show is unwatchable.

Zack is annoying, but consider where he is at emotionally. His world has gone **** up, his mom is a blood sucking freak with an 8 foot tongue, his dad is an alcoholic, he has no friends, all his favorite things are gone, his childhood is gone, nothing makes sense anymore... Most kids would either mentally snap like a twig or act out.

When I was his age if I had lost my mother it would have seriously messed me up. I nearly lost her in a car crash when I was 7 and that emotionally ****ed me up. I can't imagine losing a mom at his age and living the life he is living in the world he is living in. So I sympathize and feel for him. That doesn't mean he doesn't need to be set straight tho. Sad fact is that the world he is living in doesn't allow for his sort of behavior. It will chew his ass up and use his bones for toothpicks. Eff can't pussyfoot around and coddle him.

My problem isn't that it's a kid going through a tough time. My problem is this kid looks like he's trying to be sinister. Like he's a moment away from burning the house down at any time. It's goofy.

The kid deserves a good spanking after trashing the lab.

That better not be the end of commando vamps. If only they had their masks and kept their hoodie on. Those lights probably wouldn't have done ****. Love the training session scene.

Love this councilwoman character. She ain't ****in' around.

That is pretty annoying, I agree. That glower he puts on that says "Really, dad? You dare open you stupid mouth in my skeptical presence." is very punchable.

Book readers.
Is there enough material to go 5 or more seasons??

I would say so, maybe 4 seasons instead though, there were time jumps in the books and the show could fill us in with what happened during these if it was struggling for stuff to show.

Needed a separate post.

Ok vampirism is spread by worms.
Master controls all his worms, like a hive mind

Did he start as one worm? Is he functionally a Queen bee?

I know the bag of wormy dirt was freaky

Guillermo definitely knows scary

No. He didn't start as one worm. What he started as is a lot stranger. I hope they adapt that properly in the show.

His scowl makes him look like he's auditioning to play Damien in The Omen: Tween Years.
