Guitar Hero: Metallica

so will the game start out really bad ass and then you'll completely sell out and start playing things that sound exactly the same?

LOL! Oh man where did you come up with that? That is awesome! That is not an old complaint at all.

Guitar Hero is the Metallica of video games. Neither of them give a s**t about anything but milking the audience for as much money as they possibly can at this point, so this is a match made in heaven. Or you know, hell, if you're a member of the public. I can't wait for this and the 4 other Gutiar Hero branded games that are coming out within the year. Good job on killing an entire genre, Activision.

Maybe Guitar will someday be the Guns & Roses of video games. Non existent.

That analogy doesn't even make sense as GNR just released a new album. I would like Guitar Hero and it's overcharted messes of tracks, poor art style, and uncomfortable to play instruments to just go away, or at the very least to stop flooding the market. One a year is more than enough.

yeah I know. cheap shot on my part. If they had a version of the game where it was just And Justice For All and everything before it, I'd buy it in a second.

I'd say cut it off after the black album, myself. Maybe throw in a few cuts from S&M just for s**ts and giggles.

Wow. Anymore retreaded complaints about Metallica anyone want to throw out there?

Like I said I knew my first comment was a bit of a cheap shot. But you have to admit that old school Metallica used to melt your face off and then all of a sudden they started playing stuff like Nothing Else Matters.

It looks like the game focuses a bit more on some of the harder stuff but there's not nearly as many of the old classics as I would like on there. I mean, how bad ass would it be to have been able to play Blitzkrieg or Ride the Lightning? That may be more of a product of who the target audience for the game is, considering most of you were in diapers when I was playing Kill 'Em All on vinyl.

[/old guy rant]

although I will give them props for putting Slayer and Diamond Head tunes on there.

This seems a little bit ******ed to me. Why make a game called Guitar Hero: Metallica and then feature a fraction of the band's total track list with a bunch of random other songs? Granted, I haven't been following the game too closely, but I thought it would include all of Metallica's songs. Isn't that kind of the point of having a game based entirely on one band?

And for the record, I wasn't even born by the time Kill 'Em All was released, but the Black Album is my cutoff for great Metallica songs as well. There are a couple good songs on Load and ReLoad, but they're decent generic hard rock songs, not really great Metallica songs.

Yeah, I don't understand why they won't feature all the Metallica songs in this game; seems like a no-brainer. Instead, half the game featured artists like Foo Fighter and Slayer, which kind of defeats the purpose. I don't think they did that with the Aerosmith game, did they?

I like old, & new Metallica. Old metallica is great, but newer Metallica ( Load albums up) are deepre lyrically.

A lot of the non Metallica are songs that they covered on Garage Inc. So they at least stuck with bands the inspired Metallica.

Yeah, but who cares? If the game's got "Metallica" in the title, I want the whole catalog of Metallica songs because I like Metallica, not necessarily their influences.

That's another thing that Guitar Hero does that is incredibly ******ed. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was the same way. Half Aerosmith, half bands who had opened for them in the past. The Beatles: Rock Band is doing it right, by having it be all Beatles, through their career, and having licensed almost every song in the library to be put out on the disc and via DLC.

Yeah, Harmonix seems to have taken all the good people behind the original Guitar Hero with them. The GH games have been getting crappier over time.

according to the website, those other tunes are ones the band picked as their favorites. While most of those are great songs, I'd rather have another 15 Metallica songs to choose from.

This past weekend, I had a friend coming over so three of us (including my brother) played RB2. After awhile, I suggested giving GH:WT a try, and after less than an hour we decided to go back to RB2, which we played until late in the evening. I didn't realize just how bad GH:WT is until I really played it with several people, and it becomes clearer just how bad its multiplayer mode really is. I doubt GH:Metallica will be much of an improvement.

Well, if nothing else, people'll be looking forward to the Beatles game even more now. ;)

I'm still holding out for Rock Band "The King" that in addition to a guitar controller has one you have to put on your hips. Not only does it track your dance movements but you get extra points for getting fatter the farther you get into the game ;)

I just can't wait for its release because all the users will upload the isolated bass tracks on YouTube.

I love me some Cliff Burton playin'.

There would have to be a stealth mini-game where you sneak into the studio and steal songs from more talented black artists, and get famous off of songs that they did first, and better, while they fade into obscurity and die alone and broke, forgotten by the world. Also, about 10% of Elvis' stuff would be fun, while the rest of his stupid country, gospel, and ballads would just be as boring to play as they are to listen to. I wouldn't mind seeing Jailhouse Rock as DLC for regular Rock Band though.

Oh, also, I bought GH:WT when it first came out. I played it with a group of friends, and after one 4 song set list we turned it off, and I sold it the next day, knowing we would never ever touch it again.

Ugh, is there no end to this? Rock band is ok at best and GH is godawful. Maybe it's my own damn fault, but when I try and play a song on Guitar Hero that I know how to play on an honest to God guitar and I fail epically I can't help but wonder what the point of the game is. It's a shame people can't get interested in real instruments.
