Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

I have really good feeling that Guy Ritchie is gonna nail this

Don't know if they're going for Indian/Middle Eastern for every single character, but I'd be fine with Jim Carrey being Genie if they decide to go that route. Otherwise Aziz Ansari.

I pity the actor who signs on for Genie.

As I've said in this thread before, if they choose an extremely likeable and audience-favorite actor like Dwayne Johnson, it'll make it a much easier transition. That being said, the Genie is the only character in this movie that doesn't have to be of Arab descent, so it could be anyone.

Actually Aziz can be Iago if they're keeping that character.

Like Charlie Hunnam?:o

^He was the second actor I thought of when considering the role.

If they went with Freida Pinto as Jasmine I think that'd be perfect but if the're really going for leads that can sing to why not the chick that plays Jasmine on Once Upon A time?

Riz Ahmed as Aladdin.

The Genie shouldn't be copy of what Robin did with the character, or an imitation like what Homer did in the TV show (and the ONE sequel).

I guess if you want to keep some of the manic tempo for Genie...

Robert Downey Jr?

If you want someone who's good at impressions...

Bill Hader?

If you want someone who's sorta out of left field?...

Paul F. Tompkins

If you want someone who's a bit of an underdog in the comedy world but has tons of energy?

Jimmy Pardo

Okay, how about non-white guys? Hmm..can...do..oh...

Key OR Peele

Anymore?

Ummm..Eric Andre?

How about someone who is Muslim (Born)..or Asian/Middle Eastern?

Kumail Nanjiani!

Russell Peters as the genie.

Alan Menken will compose the music for this. He's the king of Disney.

You’re about to return to The Little Mermaid in 2018. What can we expect from that, and is there any other film that you feel you have unfinished business with or would just like to add to?

I think it’s possible that Aladdin might precede The Little Mermaid. Lin-Manuel Miranda, I knew him as a kid. He was fanatic about The Little Mermaid as a kid. He went to school with my niece, that’s how I knew him… he’s involved with Mary Poppins right now, so when he’s available and producer Mark Platt is available I’m sure we’ll get into that. But I don’t know who’s going to be directing it or who’s writing the script, so there’s so much left to be determined on that. There’s discussion about Aladdin, there’s discussion about a sequel to Enchanted, and apparently another Little Shop of Horrors movie is in the works at Warner Bros. I’m also working on an original project at Universal.

I imagine they might go a completely different route with the Genie and he will end up being absolutely nothing like Williams' version. Wlliams' Genie can't be topped or copied so it would be useless for them to even try.

I think we'll see a Genie who isn't wacky, doesn't do constant jokes or impressions, and who is a completely new character.

They should get Sinbad for the role of the Genie. Haven't seen him in a genie outfit since the 90s :o

My pick for Aladdin will probably get a negative reaction from most of you, but I think he'd absolutely nail the role:

Kunal Nayyar

People don't take him seriously because of his role in The Big Bang Theory. The kid can act though.

Riz Ahmed would be awful as Aladdin, in my opinion. I'd rather have Scott Weinger reprise the role.

I guessing Aladdin will be a unknown or little known actor. Someone like AVAN JOGIA

Aren't they supposed to be like 17 years old?

I believe so.

They want a 18 to 25 year old actors.

Omid Djalili would make a great Genie I think.

Riz Ahmed is too old for Aladdin IMO. That doesn't rule him out playing another character, though.
