Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

Bollywood musicals aren’t really my thing but I’ve seen some incredibly well shot and choreographed sequences from the films I’ve seen. This comes across like a poor mans version of those films, and as you say, with 10 times the budget. There is no excuse for a musical with this type of studio backing it to look this poorly shot and choreographed. Hell you don’t even have to look to Indian, American cinema is littered with musicals created 75-80 years ago that are more creative and better executed than this.

You are so right! I completely forgot about spectacular old hollywood musicals! Their choreography was the absolute best!! So innovative, joyous and fresh! It’s a damn shame they didn’t have the back up dancers do some intricate choreography in this clip

Y'know it just looks like y'all are looking for any excuse to complain.

Well, it also didn't help that After-Earth was a dud, so why even attempt another sci-fi film at that moment, even if it was an Independence Day sequel?

He also said in an interview he didn't want to revisit characters he already did. Of course, Bad Boys 3 is happening...

It’s become his Before... series.

We catch up on the love story of Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey every decade or so.

My biggest issue with what I've seen so far is that everything looks fake. I don't mean like bad CGI, but it feels like I'm watching stuff happen on a movie set
That's my issue, it looks like a tv special...

Doesn't look immersive at all.

It does have that "Disney parade / stage show" vibe.

Not compared to the actual stage show musical of Aladdin. The stage version of the Genie and that song seems to be better performed.

Hearing some pretty good early reactions online. Surprisingly Mena's getting a lot of praise, as are Naomi Scott and Will Smith (called it on that last one).

We seem to have had relatively little publicity for Naomi Scott. She seems to have been mostly under the radar, especially compared to the Will Smith or Aladdin.

I watched Double Toasted's final trailer reaction and now all I hear is "Prince Ali, fabulous he, Ali a-bullshhhh :funny:

Probably because most people don't know who she is.

Her singing voice is lovely, I think releasing a whole new world clip would've gone over better than this Prince Ali one.

That would've definitely gotten people more excited.

And I know it's Will Smith, but couldn't someone have given him some vocal lessons to sound more baritone and do more impressions?
