The Force Awakens Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma

Yeah, I mean,
she practically isn't in it now. A couple of scenes and a few lines and that's it. You wouldn't be cutting much.

Is anyone else getting the feeling[BLACKOUT] that Captain Phasma could be a double agent? Rey's mother? She didn't fire her blaster, they didn't show her much in the movie and she easily showed Han, Finn and Chewie about the computer.[/BLACKOUT]

Maybe I'm thinking too much of it, but it's kind of weird that she was underused.

That would make a compelling story, however, I think it might shrink the universe a bit too much. Though I can't really argue that too well, since I'm a fan of the Rey Skywalker theory.

As others have pointed out, she's a prime candidate for a particular enemy and rival to Finn, particularly in the way that she's touted in the guide as being a master of weaponry and the only Imperial to apparently have anything resembling a connection to him at all before his turn, having marked him out as possible officer material. She's also apparently the overall Stormtrooper leader, which could make her one of the primary threats in the next film just from the standpoint of her leading the majority of the foot soldiers.

I've seen this thrown around a lot, but I doubt it. I've also heard a lot of people speculating that Poe is secretly working for the First Order and that's why he didn't go searching for BB-8 when he crashed on Jakku.

But sadly, I think both of these things can just be chalked up to shoddy writing. Don't get me wrong; I think the majority of the film was written very well. But there are weak spots and I think these are two of them.

It's possible that the reason why he didn't go looking for BB-8 was because he got picked up by the Resistance on Jakku who then informed him that the droid wasn't on the planet anymore. BB-8 was being tracked as soon as they left in the Falcon by the First Order. No reason to believe that the Resistance couldn't have found that out before the Falcon got to Maz's castle.

Because she adds nothing to the story and just feels out of place. The movie doesn't need her. Especially with how she's advertised like she's relevant to the story. A cut without her wouldn't change a thing to the movie, I would enjoy it better. Any storm trooper could have substituted for her.

The meme about TR-8R are hilarious.

If they would've stopped short of the scenes with Han, Finn, and Chewie at the end I think the character would've been fine. Established, slightly menacing, underused would've been the only comments about her.

The last scene has her committing an act of treason against the empire, and entirely too easily. Unless it gets explained that she's a spy for the rebels I can't see how she comes back from that.

Didn't even put up a fight when Finn, Han and Chewy grabbed her...for a presumed "badass", that's pretty pathetic.

You would only be cutting a minute and thirty eight seconds of screen time, hardly seems worth it.

I didn't have a problem with Plasma, it's an ongoing story.
She is not done yet.

She got tackled by a 7' tall Wookie, that would take anyone out.

She gave up the lives of tens of thousands to try and save her own neck. Not a very dedicated soldier.

By contrast Rey guarded against mind melting torture for a cause she'd been involved with for what about 3 days to protect 1 guy

i wonder if Phasma will even come out in Episode 8

remember she supposedly got thrown in a trash compactor and the planet got destroyed like 10 min later

Apparently according to the official visual dictionary of “The Force Awakens,” Captain Phasmas armor was crafted from the hull of a Naboo starship once owned by Emperor Palpatine

Who ****ing cares? :funny: It's **** like this that gets kind of ridiculous to me. It's verging on Wookiepedia Legends ridiculousness.

And I think it could play into an increased role for her in the next film; if she's walking around in armor made from what the First Order would consider an (un-)holy relic, she probably has serious connection like Hux does, even before her military position.

If she has a raised profile in the next film, and if they keep Rey and Luke away from the main trouble for a while, I could see her and Hux starting in the ESB-Vader military position. Imagine seeing Phasma actually leading an overwhelming Stormtrooper attack against Finn on the ground while Poe takes on Hux's star destroyers.
