This thread in a nutshell.

Raimi's JJJ was a throwback characters/caraciture (and an awesome one btw) but John C. as JJJ? That would be a perfect MODERN take on the *****e boss. At least Cox had redeeming qualities. JJJ? You have to really look deep. Real deep. Like, digging a tunnel to Australia in your back yard deep. :yay:

If we get JC as JJJ I'd be ok with that but if we get John C. as JJJ I'd be over the moon. He's part of what made Scrubs one of my all time favourite shows.

I'm gonna go ahead and play Devil's advocate on this one, and assume 'you-know-who' was on set to give comic advice to Garfield.

We all know the script writers had help from comedians to help with humor - why not on-set too?

that's all well and good (an interesting theory), but Dragon didn't simply say that he was spotted on set. Rather, his friend told him that Jim was playing a character. Furthermore, he told him which character he was playing.

Further more after doing Kick-Ass 2 his hair could EASILY resemble Jameson's. :woot:

Thank you. Imagine the thought of ridiculousness when you all look back after having found out this isn't true.

This thread in a nutshell.

This is why I lack faith in most fanboys.

or it could be that they have no reason to close it.

The only reason they would've shut this thread down is if Dragon directly asked and/or he had violated an NDA. and he didn't.

you're really sticking to your guns on carrey not being in the film lol

Haha you've noticed.
Don't get me wrong, the prospect of Carrey being JJJ would be oh so good! I just choose to not believe in any of this until it's official. I wouldn't want you guys or myself to get dissapointed.

By no means do I think that Carrey is the only choice for JJJ. Nor until recently has he ever even crossed my mind for the role. Which is why I can't possibly be disappointed over it. I can name 10 other actors I'd be just as happy with.

But IF it's true I completely understand and applaud the choice. As has been said, Jim Carrey is indeed how you (attempt to) follow up JK Simmons' top notch performance.

Sure. I agree.

But how about the disappointment of him not being in the movie at all?

Umm... idk. Him not being in the movie and him not being JJJ are pretty much the same amount of disappointment for me. Not that he couldn't play anyone else, I just think that's the role he's best suited for.

I think Tim Roth would make an excellent Cletus Cassidy.

if true, Jim Carrey as Cletus/Carnage is PERFECTION! since the 90s i have always thought that Jim would make an excellent Cletus Cassidy

Jackie Earle Haley is who I imagine playing Carnage. Jim Carrey is more of a JJJ to me.

Man...I just realized this is will be another spoiler-ish question for Webb and Sony to dodge in upcoming interviews.

I still want Giovanni Ribisi as Kasady. That would be really cool.

Honestly though, the movie is less than a year away. I hope they dodge as many questions and leave a lot of surprises for us.

That's fair. I know there'll be some people flipping their ish when they hear its false lol. (if it is)

This.

If he was doing a role which the makers intended to be a secret,he wouldn't be caught in a fan photograph outside the set

Carnage should NEVER be in a Spider-man movie, neither should any of the other symbiotes except Venom

The symbiote sage is a total farce and it was Marvel trying to milk too much out of Venom's success and making a mess
