This thread discusses a specific idea about Batman movie titles for the future, not specifically the 3rd Nolan movie. Specifically, the idea is future Batman movies no longer having the name "Batman" in it. If there is already a thread about this, please redirect this one to it.
Could The Dark Knight have heralded Batman into the James Bond/Jack Ryan realm? Meaning, can it become a movie franchise about one character where its movies' titles no longer have to include its main character's name? (No James Bond movie has ever had the name James Bond in its title--same with Jack Ryan movies. Or course, those franchise were based on books.)
I personally wouldn't mind it: in other threads, people are already imagining movies down the road titled "Gotham," "Riddle Me This," "Shadow of the Bat" or "The Long Halloween." Hollywood will be making many more Batman movies beyond Nolan's films, and I don't know if they all have to include the name "Batman" in it. If we can get to the point where moviegoers hear of a movie called, say, I don't know, "Mask of Justice," and refer to it as, "oh yeah, that's the new Batman movie," I'd be all for it.
What do you all think? Do you see 10+ Batman movies all with the name "Batman" in it, or are we at a point where we can move away from that?
