Eh it's a TV series. Expectations will be different.Im excited about this show. I played the first trilogy and a little bit of Halo 4 so I may not be the biggest Halo fan but I do love the franchise and Im hoping this breaks the video game to screen curse. Also glad that Master Chief will be one of the main characters.
The eagerly anticipated television adaptation of Microsoft’s iconic Halo franchise has finally set a filming location and expected start for principal photography.
The upcoming Showtime series is on track for an expected 2020 premiere with an expected start date for June 2019 filming on location in Budapest.
According to casting notices obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the pay cabler's series will feature a live-action version of John/Master Chief, who is described as a Spartan-like warrior of large build. Fans of the franchise are of course familiar with the role, as Master Chief (aka Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John-117) is the primary protagonist of the Halo games.
Other characters poised to be featured in the series are Dr. Halsey — likely the Dr. Catherine Halsey who appears in 2010's Halo: Reach and 2012's Halo 4 and 2015's Halo 5: Guardians — and Jenny, listed as an Asian woman between the ages of 18-20. There is no major character by the name of Jenny in the games, but Dr. Halsey is a prominent figure in Halo lore.
That doesn’t matter though, unless it’s a large percentage of the audience.Star Wars is proof of that too. No matter what they do with the property someone will be pissed off and throw a tantrum on the internet.
"It's with great disappointment that changes to the production schedule of Halo prevent me from continuing in my role as a director on the series," Wyatt said in a statement. "My time on Halo has been a creatively rich and rewarding experience with a phenomenal team of people. I now join the legion of fans out there, excited to see the finished series and wishing everyone involved the very best."
"Showtime’s adaptation of Halois evolving beautifully with rich characters, compelling stories and powerful scripts," Showtime president of programming Gary Levine said in a statement of his own Monday. "Obviously, the production demands of this series are enormous, and we have had to add time to the schedule in order to do it right. Sadly, this delay has created a conflict for Rupert, whom we warmly thank for all he has brought to the project."
Oof.Bathurst's credits include directing last year's Robin Hood, starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx
