^ Lol yea, I loved that line.

The first 30 min. of the movie seemed rather R-rated though, didn't it?

Will Smith gets no love these days it seems. I am hoping for a Bad Boy 3 and MIB 3 so we get two will trilogies. I want MIB 3 before Tommy Lee gets too old. Hancock i saw and its in between MIB1 and I Robot.
Its really funny i thaught but many won't like this because they want some long drawn out ste up story. Will smith action movies are just Pop corn flicks and Hancock gets a story about as well as a Will smith summer movie gets . Now i said summer movie that don't include Ali or Pursuit Of Happiness.
Charliza had a good part in this i thaught and i liked her best out of the female movie characters so far this summer.
The one running gag will be remembered more then people who hated it think. It is a patent Will line as good as any MIB one.
I will shut up for i am not the best Spoiler tags guy.
8.5/10.

:wow:

Fat guy: That poor woman could have been hurt, she should sue you!

Hancock: Yeah, well you should sue McDonald's, cause they ****ed you UP.

Don't tell me you didn't get a smile out of that line.
Woman: "I can smell the liquour on your breath."
Hancock: "Cause I been drinkin b****."
:woot:

So it made 18 million yesterday and the Hype is calling it a moderate opening and another 6 million from Tuesday...what do you expect for the middle of a work week??? It will make about 45-50 this weekend and probably top 100 next week.

Saw the film today and LOVED it. I don't see what major problems the critics are having with this film.

I thought the transitions from comedy to drama were smooth, and the three leads did wonderful with their roles.

The only negatives I had is that there's a couple bad editing moments in the beginning, and the music score was all over the place. The brief times we get to hear Hancock's theme were nice though.

Hancock's origin is interesting, though it could've been fleshed out a lot more. That's one of the reasons I would really like to see a sequel to this.

I'll definently be getting the DVD (hopefully unrated).

This movie was amazing, it has a nice blend of action and comedy. The only thing is, when Charlize reveals that she has powers, the movie gets more serious. Not that it's a bad thing, I was just used to comedic action. Here's the thing that bugs me, Charlize didn't fully explain what they are and where they came from. Maybe it would've been best if they were government experiments. Another thing is the guys who try to kill them. What's their story? Why do they call him Hancock when they most likely know his real name? Normally this would bother me but the movie makes up for some of it. Hopefully a sequel will be made and it'll go further into detail.

Thanks for ruining the entire ****ing movie for me *******.

Pursuit of Happyness was amazing as was I Am Legend.

I think MIB 2 sealed the deal on there never being a MIB 3. I could see them doing a BB 3 though. Most everyone liked those.

I'd say Will Smith gets too much love at this point.

His tendency to crank out lazy and forgettable junk is growing tiresome: Bad Boys II, Wild Wild West, Men In Black II, Hitch, Shark Tale... This travesty...

Even his more enjoyable films, such as I Am Legend, I, Robot and Pursuit Of Happiness are wildly uneven. They're watchable, but far down the totem pole from similar films in their respective genres. He has yet to contribute anything truly great to the world of cinema, other than box-office sales, which tend to be short-lived.

Its time for him to ditch this whole blockbuster thing and start working with some directors who pack some substance. Jeez, a lot of top-notch filmmakers would kill to give him some ace material as his name guarantees easy funding, distribution and box-office.

Gotta somewhat agree with this. Smith is at a point in his career where he can afford to take some chances, spread out the kinds of roles he plays. We saw some of that in Pursuit of Happiness, but that was unfortunately the exception, because IMO he was great there. Honestly, I'd be pretty damn curious to see him as a villain.

He's too lovable in my opinion, which is why I also never bought MCD as the Kingpin in DareDevil.

I Am Legend was a ****y building with Will Smith's acting holding it together.

MIB II was silly but still did well and I do hope they do MIB III. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are fantastic together.

Basically his origin is a combination of
Thor and Superman, to an extent.

^He did sit on the roof and emo mope eavesdrop like Superman

I wish they'd elaborated more on that with supervillains, since this movie needed one.

I mean, nobody seriously thought that Buster (hookhand) was going to do Hancock any damage when they were watching this, did they? I'm not even sure how he thought he was going to get some back. Maybe he read the script.

Well hookhand heard he was in the hospital and I am sure went from there. But no, it wasn't explained very well. I am very interested in seeing the original uncut version. I truly thought Charlize, Bateman, or the kid might die but I knew Hancock wouldn't die...or more figured as without Hancock there is no more money for the studio.

I agree with you 100%. The first time I the teaser trailer I thought this is going to be silly. As the trailers got longer it seemed more interesting.

I have to say I thouroghly enjoyed it and I would love a sequel if they bring back the original cast.

I have got to give Will Smith credit he is only done one movie IMO that was not good (The Wild Wild West). I am legend was enjoyable with mediocre writing.

This is definitely the summer of the Super Hero movie.

The General Audience will make this movie a hit
But because Will Smith is in it, another actor and this would've been ignored.

You can tell when a movie is a hit when TV commercials keep running weeks after the movies been out, I haven't seen that happen with two duds like The Love Guru and Don't Mess With The Zohan.

MIB 2 was the exact same story as the first one just not as good. An alien comes to earth looking for something that we only know as "the light" or the "galaxy" on Orion's belt. The alien is a bad guy who's killing anyone in their way to get what they came for. Totally unoriginal. Then that chick finds out she's an alien and then she's all just like "oh, I guess I'm an alien". :whatever: It was so fricken weird.

Can we agree that I, Robot was his best so far?

Interesting concept
Not a bad movie!
And here I thought years ago about making Adam and eve superheroes protecting the Garden of Eden Against demons and dinosaurs like creatures that was trying to invade paradise to get a bite at that famous apple
I guess Hancock beats me to it now huh !

I just saw it. This movie started off very well. It was funny, Smith and Bateman had great chemistry, and I liked where it seemed Hancock's journey was going.

And then it jumps the shark:

Right when Theron is revealed to have powers, the movie becomes a complete mess. They scramble to explain how the relationship works, it completely goes away from what they were doing, and the movie goes down hill.

Overall, this movie had a solid first half and crappy last one. That would put it at 5/10, but the taste left in my mouth by the movie's final 20 minutes notches this down to a 4/10 movie (from mediocre to bad). The shame of it all was that it was a good movie. Then, they ruined it. Someone should have had the common sense to not let the script 180 like it does, but sadly no one does. I have no interest in a sequel for this.

Thumbs down for Hancock :down

Just got back from seeing this and Wanted back to back with a huge group of friends and we all LOVED it, save for one (but he thinks the Resident Evils movies are the best franchise ever so we pay no attention to his dumba**).

The last part was a BIT jumbled, but all in all, I thought it was a great start up film for what could potentially become a great character in future sequels.

I'm interested in hearing about why it was originally cut down from it's original 120 minutes to just 92 minutes. I hope they put that version on the DVD.

I didn't like MIB II either...I just said it fared well because of the cast and I am surprised a third hasn't come about. That movie had more cheese than Wisconsin in it. I am still a sucker for MIB I but I did think I Robot wasn't too bad. It had a good plot, good action, and good twist but it was just another summer blockbuster with explosions and one liners. MIB was just so smartly written IMO and had a great score by Elfman and great performances by its cast (Who doesn't love Rip Torn as Zed:o). I love quirky movies for some damn reason. And yes MIB had one liners but they were on purpose. I Robot was one of his better films yes but I can't back away from my MIB. However, Will Smith as Hancock is by far my favorite character he has played to date and he did it perfectly. I just wish the studio hadn't hacked it up and it was better written for the last act.

People are complaining about 17.4 million for an opening weekend. Um thats not bad for a Tuesday. And it was teh 4th or July or a Friday where it should atleast match it or make more money. Hancock won't make Iron Man or TDK or Indy 4 numbers but i'd say with its 6 day weekend basically it will liekly make 80 million. Thats not too impressive but i consider that solid and about what i expected. I never expected Hancock to do more then break even bit it will do one thing and give Will 8th straight 100 million dollar box office win.

Man I wish they hadn't edited so much. I wish we could have gotten that 30 more minutes to add substance to these relationships so that they seemed worthy of carrying the climax of the movie. Who cares about frikkin supervillains, I was cheering Hancock during the final part of the film. I felt it, deep.

The critics may be right. The twist completely takes over the movie, stealing the momentum from the first half, no doubt. The movie is not about Hancock's transformation, that gets taken care of, it's about something much more...

Which brings me to what I love most about the movie: The mythology. Powers based on relationships... that's so incredibly awesome, it's jawdropping. I love the mythology of this movie. I think it breaks the universe to have him do that to the moon, though... but that's what really puts me over the edge for this film. I bought the mythology, and the climax hooks into the mythology more than the typical superhero-supervillain battle.

I loved this movie, and I want some more. Directors Cut DVD, please with the extra 30 minutes that puts the substance back into this film. I'm tired of editors jacking up Will Smith movies.

Also, I find something horridly ironic about people who dislike Hancock for its lack of supervillainy, but love the Wanted movie.

8/10 for now.

"Terrible"? "Mediocre"? "Poorly executed"?
I think I've finally had it with movie critics, and that goes for the idiotic "pros" out there and the internet armchair critic dorks in here. If I was a rude person, I'd wish them all to eat a certain substance that comes out of a certain part of the body, but I am very polite.

It's like they just don't want to have fun watching a movie, but whatever.

I loved this movie, and I had a lot of fun, and I understood everything (Btw, people crying "PLOT HOLE!!!" should really start paying attention to the movie instead of thinking "clever" smartass little phrases to post on the internet later).

I'm kinda pissed Berg wanted an R movie, and had to cut a lot of stuff, but that just tells me they'll release an extended DVD or a director's cut or something.

Point is, I was expecting a lot from a Peter Berg superhero movie, and I got it.

Anyway, 9/10.
