Weird thing....they're starting to run ads on tv for Hancock and at the end it states a July 9 release date. However on Sony's website and in the trailer i watched recently at my theater they give a July 2nd date.WTF?

i really liked the last action hero. it was very original, and was a pretty good spoof on the whole action movie genera as a whole.

I thought Last Action Hero had good ideas, but I think a shorter run time would have helped. It was almost two movies. One was in movieland, and then another in the real world. But it is miles better than Jingle All the Way.

Anyway, on topic... the newer ads make this movie finally look interesting to me. But I still think it'll be lackluster ultimately just because Akiva Goldsman involved.

Not bad. Charlize really looks angry towards Hancock. After reading the spoilers it does make more sense now.

OK, just saw an advance screening, here's a quick review (no spoilers coming)....


Overall, it was pretty good. I did enjoy it, although I wouldn't say it was as good as Iron Man.

I was a bit surprised when the film took a serious turn in the last third, since it seemed more comedic at the beginning. There were a few silly parts, but it was enjoyable.

A decent 7.5/10.

This article is calling the film a disaster. Mostly for the fact that there's lots of bad language, and Hancock isn't likeable, which was the point of the story. It also said that it was a bad movie for a family, which I expected from reading past reviews.

Sony should have just made this Rated R. The film is said to be only around an hour and 20 minutes according to that site, so I'm wondering how much stuff got cut.

Like one review said, this is more of an adult superhero tale, and I think it's going to be either a hit or miss with people. A lot of folks are going to be taken off guard with this film. I still have a strong feeling I'll like it though.

I'd agree with that. I was a bit surprised with the violence and increased seriousness of the second half of the film, and I certainly wouldn't consider it a family movie. Good characterization and dialog, however.


On a side note most of the CGI effects were done by Sony Imageworks, and much like the Spidey films, those effects are uneven. Some looked great and some were... meh.

Just saw an advanced screening last night....boy am I glad it was free because if I had paid to see that trainwreck I would have been all kinds upset!

The movie...is easily one of Will Smith's worst since Wild Wild West. It just seemed to be based on an interesting idea and cool scenes....and nothing relevant in between. This movie didn't know whether or not to be a comedy...an action movie...an R rated film...I would say its about as bad as My Super EX Girlfriend....the special effects looked rushed in some spots and the editing....to the trained viewer was horrible...I'm telling you right now...this is not me letting off steam about a movie I already knew I was gonna hate just to keep fanboys of other summer flicks still to come at ease....NO...I actually wanted to see this...me and my gf, and we were both walking away kinda surprised at how bad it was.

I don't think its going to be the hit I thought it was...it will do pretty good at the BO because its Will Smith and his weekend...but the reviews that are calling it a disaster...are very accurate.

Although some of you guys have seen it, I am still anxious to check it out on my own. I saw the trailer before Indiana Jones and thought it looked interesting. I love Will Smith and his diverse roles he brings to the big screen. I am also excited to see Charlize Theron. 4th of July weekend wouldn't be the same with a opening weekend and visit to the movie theater to see Will Smith.
