Hancock rocks!

I enjoyed it, funniest scene by far was after the credits
[BLACKOUT]Mike Epps--"with that tight ass wolverine looking suit" or something like that. I love Mike Epps, dude is hilarious. Maybe he will be han***** sidekick[/BLACKOUT]
I'll give it a C. Could have been better, just felt really rushed. I knew the spoilers thanks to the hype, but any fool could have figured out what was going on. My friend kept saying [BLACKOUT]thats his girlfriend or something, does she know him?[/BLACKOUT]

Saw it last night I'll try to give a brief review without spoiling anything. I'd say this is a 2/5 (decent) I was dissapointed but commercial audiences are going to eat this **** up like cotton candy bet on that. It has everything your average movie goer would like but the more avid movie fan won't be impressed. A lot of the jokes just didn't hit with me they just felt way too basic but the majority of the audience loved them though.

The whole derelict superhero angle the previews are rolling with is dissapointingly a very small part of the movie about 20 minutes or so. So that was part of what was a downer for me I wanted more of that. I felt the event that set up the meeting between Hancock and Jason Bateman's was way too illogical even by movie standards but it lead to the one quote that got the biggest laugh out of me ("you should sue mcdonald's cause they done f---ed you up"). Some of the prison scenes were funny though (particularly what he does with 2 inmates that get in his way and the group therapy thing) but the montage during that segment felt pointless and contrived.

I liked the bank scene from when he was reforming himself but then everything else after that was hit or miss. I dug the obvious plot twist involving Hancock's backstory and his relation to another superheroic character but felt there wasn't enough exposition and development about that in the film a lot of it felt missing and left you asking questions. It also would've benefited from a better antagonist than what we get.

They left it open for a sequel though with an ending that I felt was kinda corny. I give it points for at least trying something different and coming up with a fresh superhero mythology. At times it did feel like "what if you woke up with superpowers and how would you use them" but I just wasn't very impressed it felt very safe it wasn't as satirical as I thought it'd be just another average superhero story even with it's break of genre conventions. Like I said definitely something made specifically for the commercial movie audience they're going to love this. lol @ all the groupies that marked out begging for autographs when they saw Will Smith himself walsking out the theatre and leaving the screening.

Just quoting myself from a couple weeks back now that the movie is officially out. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who felt this way and everybody notices the movie's flaws. Fairly entertaining and interesting in the first 30 or so minutes and then completely crashes down cause of obvious studio mandates. This movie was wasted potential.

It was just another Will Smith summer movie. For people to expect it to be brilliant is laughable when we know it will just be an ok film...which it was.

At this point we all know that Will Smith is capable of more than "just another Will Smith summer movie" that's part of the dissapointment.

I'd be interested to see if the R-rated Hancock would be superior over the PG-13's.

From what:huh:

Will Smith can act...no one is questioning that. It just seems that every movie he is in is doomed to have mediocre writing, mediocre cgi, etc. to equate to just an ok movie.

I am shocked people dont like this film, I saw it a few weeks ago and everyone who saw it loved it. Including my girlfriend who usally hates movies like this, I dont get why people are saying the turn was shocking. The very fact that Hancock was a loner was implemented from the start so why act shocked when he finally has someone. Shesh this was a lot better than that **** fest Superman Returns yet that film recieved higher praises.

Ok just got back from HANCOCK all I got to say is.... it was awesome... went past my expectations

Wohooooooo and I thought I was the only one, personally one of the best films I have seen all year heck I will even go as far as saying the best so far.

Even better than Iron Man:wow:

Yes I enjoyed it a lot more than IronMan, I thought the fight with Charlize Theron (Yes I spelt her name wrong) was awesome better than Hulk vs Abomination. It felt powerful and earth shattering my only qualm with it was that the fight was to short.

I liked it. I do believe that the last 15 mins or so don't match up to the rest. The twist was fine, and Will was great. Fun movie.

I liked it as well. The CGI battle between Will and Charlize was awful but nothing to worry about.

I honestly can't see why people didn't like the love story twist. It was way better than the first 30 minutes of the movie. The instant it came on with all that rap music added with that comedic feel to it, my expectations instantly lowered themselves. I guess the main reason for that is that the trailers promoted this movie as being more epic than comedic.

It seems based on his past two movies the guy is understanding the responsibility one has when they're the biggest movie star in the world. What I mean by that is stepping out of his comfort zone and taking on projects that are different from what people normally expect from him. Taking risks and expanding his talent. At this point you know anything he headlines will automatically gross over $150 million domestic this is not the beginning of his movie career anymore.

So while I didn't like IAL I could still say it was competently written and directed it was a departure that highlighted his acting skills and expand his repertouire this is why the people that did love it did so. It wasn't by any means a bad movie just not what I expected considering the source. But it was a consistent piece even when it dragged it didn't lose focus and knew what it was delivering. Happyness I did like that was also competently written and directed helped him expand his profile even gaining him respect from non fans and was also a consitent piece from act 1 to act 3.

So you see at this point he is proving he could deliver focused & engaging blockbusters cause no matter what season his pics are released they are always blockbusters. You expect the man to continue taking risks with his choices since he's been doing that for two years in a row already and avery successfully. So a film who's first act concept was a great way to built up something that satirized and changed the outlook of superhero film. Even the studio recognized this since it's all they marketed and watch turn into just another tired superhero film is wasted potential.

This movie could've been something dare I say revolutionary for the genre. But it's just another unfocused and inconsistent movie. Where a capable director can't even flex himself and phones in his job & you see the studio's fingerprints all over it just because they want a new franchise instead of an artistically successful stand alone film that could go down as one of the summer's best.

^ I said Smith was a great actor and he showcased it in IAL and Pursuit. But, IAL had horrible CGI and the ending was nothing short of crap. Happyness was a good family film but a tear jerker none the less. Smith has yet to be in a movie that has everything and is damn great. He is succeeding but I want just want him to choose his projects more carefully. It seems he is getting to comfortable with the summer blockbuster that he doesn't care what he plays. Hancock suffered from writing plain and simple.

And from your reviews in your sig you rated Batman Forever to be on par with Batman Begins??? WTF!?

so from what i've read, what i saw is what you guys got, minus the super sperm?

Does Will get any of that hot Theron South African sugar? :o
