The trailers for Handjob was better than the movie itself. Quantum of Solace 007 looks pretty good, Hellboy looks awesome and even Mummy 4 looks enjoyable. I didn't enjoy 5 minutes of Handcock at all fellas.

wow...what a cool story. I like this much better than what we got because it is much more coherent to the rest of the movie, follows the same theme.
The thing is, there is still a possibility to kinda milk it if they so wished.

For me it was probably 5 minutes total.

Here's my review for my blog. It does contain spoilers. I gave it 7/10. The second half was rather flawed.

Very good,... I have no issue with your critique.

At least you explained yourself and ask the same questions all of us who liked the movie.

I'da liked to see how Hancock had crossed from Florida to California,... and what he has been doing over the last 7 decades.

V.

You sure do hate this movie enough to keep posting how much you hated it huh:whatever: If you didn't enjoy the first 30 minutes then I don't know what is wrong with you. Either you don't have fun at the movies or you get your kicks from chick flicks.

I thought it was a decent movie overall, nothing special. It had some flaws, but I understood the story and all that stuff. Just wish there was a tad more acts of superheroism, or diastersism's :)
I did kindof sortof like their explanation of his powers it was kindof refreshing, but yet it lacked any punch to it...I kindof wanted some flashbacks to his earlier years..
I actually liked the link between Hancock, and jason batmens wife, liked the whole connection thing, just wish they would of done a little more with it.
Then hospital scene at the end was actually good, loved the whole dark theme to it,he definately wasn't a Mr.Niceguy there..Don't see superman purposly causing casualties..

i like hancock but i am still angry. i am pissed. i hate when in hollywood you film a 2 hour movie and then you cut out 20 minutes. is this now a new trend?
the movie felt empty. through the whole movie i felt like something was missing. of course it was. its called deleted scenes. the same with TIH.

its in nooooooooo way will smiths fault that they deleted hes movie. he did IMO a great job.
i want the original cut. i want the directors cut.

Yes, if he didn't like the first act he must certainly like chick flicks! :whatever:

i am still angry. why not have hope in the name Will Smith?
even if it would have a R rating it would make a profit for them IMO.plus we would get a complete movie.

does anyone remember the scene in the trailer where hancock is looking up and the rain is falling down very slowly? it was a slow motion shot. it was not in the movie. so how long was the fight in the original cut? plus hancock in the suit is sliding on the road

i think now its obvious that the movie was not only cut down to make it PG-13 .....but also to make it a shorter.

No. They've been cutting material in movies for years. Some movies loose a minute or two, some loose an hour. They cut whatever they need to make it a smoother, cleaner film for whatever reason. We just know about it now because people love movies more and they need to add stuff into the "SUPER EXTRA MEGA BIG DVD" release. Otherwise we wouldn't even know about it. Take T2 for example. There was about 15 minutes cut out we didn't even know about. We didn't get to see it until the "SUPER EXTRA MEGA BIG DVD" that came out in like 04.

DAC is right. Just wait a little while and suddenly you'll get the special super director's cut that adds in all the cut things.

They also cut the dialogue in the trailer where the lady goes "Hanock is down, he looks hurt." and the scene where he flies by the newspaper dispensers and they all go up into the air and turn over.

IAdditionally it might be beneficial that Hancock come and see them every now and then, in order for him and Charlize to age. I mean things will probably get weird when Bateman begins to look 10 years older than Charlize. That would probably raise some eyebrows.

Hancock could come around and live with them for a little and she could age a little bit. He really doesn't need to stay away forever.

I don't know about that. It seems to me when they are away from each other they "reset" in every way. If Hancock was around so they could age, I believe they would reset back to the age that they are now.

I saw Hancock today. Just thought I'd give it a chance. It was alright, I guess. Although it started to get weird towards the second half but I thought Charlize Theron was decent.

Different take on the comicbook genre for this movie though but very weird.

I'll be seeing Hancock in a couple of hours so untill then i can't comment on how much it sucked or rocked.

But yeah , even Big Willie isn't that powerful to fight studio bosses. They are the ones paying the $$$ and they sure as hell want their investment back. And if that means cutting an additional 20 min. just so they can secure the Pg-13 rating instead of the dreaded R rating , they'll do it too.
And at 90 min, the movie can be played more times.

It's all about the money...

money is evil.

Im guessing with all those deleted scenes added in, it would probably make for a better movie.

i dont have a problem when they delete some scenes. i have a problem that now its a trend to film a R rated movie and then 2 months before the realese you change it to PG-13.
it was obvious that this would be the ''save'' way. so why not from the beginning film it as a PG-13 movie?

To sell more DVDs. I guarantee that somewhere out there the number crunching has been done and its shown that if they have an extra 20 minutes on a DVd it sell a far greater number of copies than it otherwise would.

Ditto . If it it works against the movie and/or if it doesn't matter if that scene is there ( see the extended editions of LOTR) , then i don't have any problems.

My guess is that they did actually do this . Rewrite the script and make it PG-13 , but they were pushing the movie quite a bit. A hard Pg-13 movie can eventually go into R-rated territory and given the fact that they had to submit this movie multiple times to get the Pg-13 rating , i think that they were doing this.

If they really wanted to make this an R rated movie , they wouldn't have rewritten the script. IMO of course.
And to my knowlegde , SOny has never made a R rated superhero/action movie. WB did take some risks with The matrix trilogy , Constantine and 300 and lately Universal did the same thing with Wanted.
But as far as i know Sony and Fox like to play it safe , even if it means diluting certain movies.
Look at Ghost Rider. I suspected it to be a hard Pg-13 movie but IMO it looked like a very kid friendly movie.
