I think maybe part of the problem was that to the cast and crew it would look like having Mel in their movie would be like shrugging off his racism/sexism. There is also the fact that the dude's never even apologized for the things hes said.

That's one of the main differences for me. It seems like the guy really needs help . I really enjoy his work but it disturbs me that he is only going to get worse.

Mel doesn't need to apologize to anybody publicly. He went off on his ex in a particularly nasty breakup. Who hasn't? I don't give a s**t what he said or what his personal opinions are. All he did was yell over the phone. If Woody Allen deserves a free pass in Hollywood, I think Mel more than deserves it.

It's not just a moral thing but the Mel Gibsons and the Cruises need to be aware that their off camera actions can put off a majority of the public who, y'know, actually want to LIKE the actors they're spending money on which, y'know, can negatively affect and embarrass the business all in one go more effectively than any slate of ****** blockbusters.

Besides that just because there are people in the industry who gave and give Polanski and Woody Allen passes doesn't mean that EVERYONE forgives or even should. John Travolta walked off a movie when he found out the replacement director was Polanski, Mery Streep refused to work with Woody Allen again after the Soon Yi scandal when the latter approached her for a role (she slammed him publically in VANITY FAIR 2 months after the incident made the news).

Zach, and whoever else from the production who protested, whether business or personal influenced didn't want to work with someone whose shenanighans (racial abuse and threats of violence btw he didn't just 'yell at someone over the phone' the content of his words MATTERS) are too fresh in the mind and far from over considering he's still being investigated for assault.

i like Mel. i personally don't care about what goes on in his private life. it's his life so who cares? doesn't take away the fact that the guy is one talented actor & director. it sucks that he is not doing the cameo anymore

and Zach came off as a total *****ebag in protesting Mel's cameo

Mike Tyson was a convicted rapist and actually served time, but that didn't seem to bother anyone. really hypocritical of them

Michael Richards has apologized for his actions and a lot of time had passed after that incident in the comedy club so it was cool for him to sort of come back. Also, I really doubt he's even racist. From what I understand, what he said was as a result of hecklers.

As for Tyson, his sexual assault was almost two decades ago and he paid for his crime. The only other troubling incident that I can remember after the assault was biting Holyfield's ear, but since then he's not been involved in any sort of criminal behavior. Also, Tyson's not a massive *****ebag like Mel Gibson so he had that going for him. Lol.

I find it greatly disturbing that you think:

1) rape is something that can fall under "forgive and forget"
2) a rapist is not a "massive *****ebag"

this.

It's funny people make a big deal about this when it has to do with Mel or any other hollywood star...but if this happened to a regular joe...no one would even care.
Hypocritical.

Liam Neeson > Mel "Who, That Racist Guy?" Gibson

Neeson has a particular set of skills acquired over a very long career to make this work.

What better Gentile to replace Mel Gibson than Oskar Schindler!

1) Obviously a woman who was raped probably isnt going to forgive or forget getting raped, but as long as the rapist pays for his crime, is genuinely sorry for what he did and more importantly doesnt rape another person again, then Im not gonna hold his crime over his head forever.

2) Rapists as a whole are *****ebags, but Tyson is one rapist that isnt as massive a *****ebag as Mel.

:lmao:

If the cast didn't want to work with him they didn't want to. It seems hypocritical but hollywood is not fair and never has been. Mel Gibson is a rich bastard who isn't starving for food. He'll be back to making and playing in movies in no time. He'll also knock up another young thang and probably beat and yell at her too. All will be well in the world.

I don't know, he bit off a dude's ear, that was kind of *****ebaggery.

Lmao. It is pretty *****ey, but its the kind of *****e move I can respect.

Its like Tyson was thinking in the clinch, "**** it, I aint beating Holyfield. Lets see whats gonna happen after I bite his ear off."

Mel Gibson has that beaver movie coming out so hes not hurting.

Tyson served his time in prison and has openly regretted being a horrible person, not to mention his three year old daughter choked to death last year. Karma has take it's toll on him. If I were on a film set, I probably wouldn't pal around with him, but I'd put my feelings aside.

Gibson on the other hand needs to disappear from the public spotlight for a while. He hasn't done anything as bad as commit rape, but he is still toxic to the general public and will be for some time.

Besides, Liam Neeson doing a Frat Pack style comedy will probably be insane in it's own right.

Actually this is the second time he has went off his rocker. Both times he used racist slurs. The second time he used sexist and racist slurs. I used to like the guy I mean he made the excellent passion of the Christ but now he's a racist/ sexist a hole in my book. When someone gets drunk or goes of their rocker it really shows what kind of person they are. Plus he is not even getting any type of help. So I agree with giving him the boot in hangover 2 hes not even funny anyway.

Gibson will need to pull a ****ing rabbit out of a magical hat to be welcomed back by the general public again.

I still love Mel and his acting but what he did was flat out wrong. He dug himself an even deeper hole for what he did this past year.

But Liam Neeson is a great replacement. So all is forgiven.

IMO, a rapist isn't someone who should be given the benefit of forgiveness simply because they "did their time". Victims don't get that type of satisfaction; no way in hell should the rapist. You can tell me Tyson is "sorry" till you're blue in the face; that won't change the fact that he raped a woman and ruined her life.

2) Rapists as a whole are *****ebags, but Tyson is one rapist that isnt as massive a *****ebag as Mel.

Whether Mel means what he's said or not is (at this point in time) irrelevant since he hasn't acted on any of his supposed bigotry, so at this point its just a bunch of words. Tyson, on the other hand, RAPED someone AND has a history of drugs and violence outside the ring. Hell, he even admitted to doing the Hangover just for drug money.

I'm sorry, but I just cant accept the idea that someone who is an angry drunk is a worse person than a violent rapist.

Well for one Tyson still says he is innocent, so when he is apologizing for being a terrible person it's not for that. not saying he is innocent just correcting a misnomer that he has admitted to it.

Just heard about this on the radio this morning. Cant' wait to see him in the role.
