Hannah Montana vs. Wolverine!

Elaborate please.

Wolverine has a chance of beating Hannah if Miley Cyrus does something extremely bad that keeps parents from taking their kids to see her movie.

disney always brings out new artists who make it big and then burn out or washed out. Miley is just another trend like Duff, Raven, and Lohen.
at one time or another those three were famous, and now they just blur right into the background.

Hannah Montana is opening up the same day as Wolverine ?? Ouch.... I work at a movie theatre. Hannah Montana was a nightmare... adding another popular movie to that weekend and it'll be a complete nightmare....

I feel Wolverine will do better over-all, most people want action in the summer opposed to comedy. That's why only 1 or 2 comedys do good in the summer. Most of the them cartoons.

If Hannah Montana is rated PG-13 for Montana sensuality, I can bet that it might steal some Wolverine-philes away.

Disney has balls, man!

check this out. Its from ComingSoon.net:

"It looks like X-Men Origins: Wolverine will have new competition on May 1, 2009, as Disney will release The Hannah Montana Movie on that date."

wow.
This will make a perfect family day at the movies. Mom and the girls get Hannah Montana, while dad and the boys get Wolverine.

Seriously, Wolverine has nothing to worry about. This girl can't WAIT to Lohan-out. I give it 3 months for a HUGE scandal to come out and it's bye-bye Hannah.

she's getting close, those pics from vogue didnt help her case at all.
i dont think wolvie fans should worry though, unless marvel is trying to aim this movie at 10-14 yr old girls.
other than that it all depends on who has more hype.

While I'm aware this probably isn't the most appropriate place for this discussion, I feel that the whole Miley Cyrus 'controversy' has been blown way out of proportion.

Regarding her Myspace photos, they were private and meant to be viewed only by friends and not meant to be distributed amongst the public. Furthermore, it's mainly her and her friends fooling around. Had this been any other 15/16 year old, hardly anyone would've batted an eyebrow since it's relatively normal and not nearly as bad as some of the other things they might get up to.

As for the magazine photos, they're not that bad either. After all, it was on Vogue as opposed to something like FHM, so the audience it was meant to target are the fashionably inclined. Had the photos been of a 21 year old model, would people really be saying it's distasteful as opposed to artistic? If it's about the age, the blame still wouldn't fall on her. If you think about it, the whole reason for the laws/morals/mentalities against 'racy' pictures of children is to protect them from being manipulated and exploited by adults. Hence, the people that really ought to be vilified here are the magazine, photographer and managers for placing her in such a position. In fact, Miley Cyrus is the victim here.

Yo that lil white gurl Hannah Montana she gonna get rocked by Wolvie, snikt snikt playa!

I think one of them will move. At one point, Quantum of Solace was set to release against IRON MAN before it moved.

Hopefully it's Hannah Montana. After seeing what Iron Man did, I'm sure Fox wants to keep a lock on that date and be the first 'Summer' movie of '09 (even though it technically isn't Summer).

I doubt either one of them will move - no way is Fox going to move Wolverine from May 1, especially after it saw what Iron Man did on that date. And Hannah Montana is a completely different demo - it's called counter-programming. The first HM movie made $31M on opening weekend in February.

Exactly. If that Ashton Kutcher/Cameron Diaz thing could beat Speed Racer, and Devil Wears Prada beat SR, I wouldn't exactly be shaking either.

I tried to get tickets for my niece to see Hannah Montana but like so many others, I couldn't. If she wants to see the Hannah Montana movie (if she even still likes her then) she is going to have to miss out. I will pay for her and my family to see Wolverine but if she wants to see Hannah Montana she is on her own, sorry. Hey they don't call me mean aunty for nothing.....

I don't get Hannah Montana. She's not cute, she has a horse face for god's sake.

Well, here's hoping that Hannah Montana's popularity wanes in about a year and the teens find another show to worship.

The Devil Wears Prada didn't beat Superman Returns. Dead Man's Chest did a week later. Also, at this point, I would say Jackman's Wolverine is more bankable than Speed Racer. If X-Men Origins: Wolverine is good, it should do fine. If the movie is questionable and opening against a movie with a similar demographic, then I would be a bit more concerned.

Exactly. It's counter-programming. The audience for Devil Wears Prada were mostly women who had little or no interest in Pirates or Superman. Plus it was based on a best-selling book. And it was a terrific movie that had great word-of-mouth through the summer.

HM's audience are young girls who aren't all that interested in superheroes and probably wouldn't have been at Wolverine anyway.

It all comes down to whether or not the movies are good. If Wolverine is as good as it's looking, it should find it's audience and do fine. If HM is as popular in May as she is now, it will also find it's audience and do fine. Let's just hope no one ends up in the wrong theater at the multiplex that weekend. :oldrazz:

Worst case scenario, people have to buy Hannah tix in order to sneak into the sold out Wolvie. Hannah wins the box office by a landslide. :p

The Devil Wears Prada didn't beat Superman Returns.

In the long run it did. Superman Returns made 200 million domestically, but that wasn't enough to recover all the money WB had invested in a decade long battle to make the movie.

Devil Wears Prada made 100-something, but it definitely made back its budget AND MORE.

In other words...Prada was a success for its studio and SR wasn't. Prada wins!
