Happy Chanukah

Those potato pancake things.

some people eat jelly donuts during Chanukah. Iquote]
The reason for both customs are one and the same:
doughnuts and patato pancakes are both oily food. and the miracle was wrought with oil.

another (yet little-known) food costum for Chanukah:
cheese.
this is because a lady named Yehudit (transalated as Judith) lived in the times preceding the miracle. a genrael of Antiochus forced her to lodge him in her tent. she fed him CHEESE so he became thirsty. she then served him wine to quench his thirst. then he fell into a drunken stupor, at which she cut off his head. this seriously injured the Greek presence in Israel, allowing the Maccabees to win, then dedicating the temple and causing the miracle of lights to happen.

I got a Stephen Colbert desk calendar the other night. My holiday is almost complete. Just need somebody to make me latkes.

Yes, latkes, like hash browns on steroids, they are, as you get older and less concerned with presents, the best part of Chanukah. Especially with sour cream on them. Jew food, you know you can't beat it! *wears sunglasses and gives exaggerated thumbs-up*
