Harley Quinn costume idea!

Hey guys--I have been pondering an idea about harley.

A lot of people--including myself at one point---feel that she should be "grungy" or dirty--or hoboesque like the Joker was. This is a fantastic idea! im not trying to say its wrong--but i have another idea that I have been pondering.

Ok--instead of being like the joker--what if harley were to be somewhat the opposite--In appearance. What if she looked cute and nice--but was twisted and malicious underneath it all(of course).
She looks "proper" but uses her beauty and looks to her advantage. I know this is a crazy comparision--and i hated that movie lol--but like in the devil's rejects--that one girl--the blonde--she lurs victims in. She seems like a good all american girl--and she is attractive--but turns out she not. You know what i mean. Harely would be this way--and could even turn out to be more violent and take pleasure in her wrong doings. She could get joy and satisfaction out of manipulating her victims and "savor" their emotions when they find out she is not who they thought she was.

Im finding it very hard to explain myself for some reason.

But im working up and idea in my head--and when i have it all said and done I will post it for you guys to see what you think.

Hi guys, new to the board, but this is the thread that got me to join.

I think the idea of doing a different version of Harley is awesome, and kind of want to do one myself. ^^; But first, I've got to make her customary clown spandex montage. XD

Anyways, apon reading in this thread and seeing some of the ideas, my mind went back to a picture of a Harley costume I found on www.cosplay.com where her top was a zip up hoodie or summat. SO, with that being said, I did my own take on it. But I think I ****ted her up too much. :/ Longer shorts, longer shirt....*shurg* I mainly just wanted to draw the hoodie. ^^; Forgive my silly art, I'm kind of rusty.

I LOVE that hoodie! I would definitely buy that and wear it every day.

I "made" a Harley costume two hours before a halloween dance. My boyfriend dressed up as Joker too. I'd post pictures but my costume came out like sh**. I didn't even get to finish it because I procrastinated and I didn't have enough time to finish it before the dance.

I totally get what you're saying. I'm working on a fan film and thinking about adding a reinvented "nolan-esque" Harley Quinn and I had thoughts quite similar to yours. Joker would sort of "use" her to get to people. She'd use her beauty to lure men in, to get answers, and when she has them where she wants them *boom* the absolute craziness unleashes.

Mrs.J, you're thinking of Baby, and I love that idea! Channeling sort of a Baby Firefly, Mallory Knox, psychosis. The girl-next-door, whom you would trust your life with, but she'll take it without even batting an eyelash.

As far as the *look* for that goes, I think she'd start off prim & proper, and the more she kills the messier she gets. Like Joker's makeup. I'd also say avoid making her look or act like she wants to kill. It's part of what she does. Like a dog bring home a dead animal as a sign of affection. Joker sees her as a slight annoyance, but can't tell her to go away. My 2 cents.

wearing 1 red and 1 black chuck taylor opposite of pants with a black tank top ripped up and red underneath, a black leather jacket with the harley quinn logo some where wearing some type of gloves and she should have her face painted white with the joker style eyes just a little more feminine and her lips have a tiny curve to em thats what tdk harley quinn shuld look like

I got it at some little leather shop in Hampton Beach, NH called "The Cow's Ass".. haha.

Oh, and I've had some progress with my costume!.. the makeup. I was playing around with my makeup tonight, and I just decided to turn it into a Harley inspired thing.. so it's not as great as I'd like it to be, but it's a start!

I like the prim proper then turn messier idea. The Joker sees her as an asset but at the same time she is an annoyance. She loves him to death he could not give a damn about her besides her help to his operation. He may "use" her for his own satisfaction--but we know that Nolan's Joker doesnt believe in possessions. He would never love her and like her for that matter. He has a better "love" so to speak with Batman and his "social experiments". Possibly Harley could also use her dressing up as prim and proper as an outlet to mocking the innocent victims she preys upon? THe rich? She could despise the rich like JOker despised the mob leaders and thier money? Just a thought.

Well, this isnt really a costume idea, but more of an idea of how someone would look as Harley. This is my little sister as Harley Quinn(She LOVES Harley, but she wants to be some fairy for Halloween)

And piromire, OMG I LOVE your make up! And the blade! You remind me a little of Pauley Perrette(who coincidentally, i would love to see as HQ)

Trust me, I'm the same way...
as for the "relationship" between Harley and Joker, I think it should have a sort of, "filthy gorgeous" feel to it. For lack of a better word, even slightly pornographic. Not in the adult ent. way obviously, but just in that way of whenever the two are talking, you feel uncomfortable b/c you're not sure what's going on there.

You're never sure if Joker is going to call her a freakish ****e and slap her across the face, or if he's going to call her a freakish ****e and walk away. Basically saying, I'm not telling you to follow me, but I'm not telling you to go away.

!!! Just got an idea for the "big reveal!" Let's say Dr. Quinzell has been hearing the Joker's stories for quite a while now. And one day, she comes on to him. He punches her in the mouth. Not wanting the security guard to see the bruise she puts on some makeup. This happens over and over for a few sessions. Only the last time, she turns her back on him to apply the makeup that covers the bruises. And when she turns around... Harley! They then proceed to go and kill the guard and make their escape.

I don't know why everyone hates on the "punk" Harley so much. The one pic where the chick is holding the RPG is pretty much on if she had the white face.

Lemony: The one pic of your Harley face close up is just beautiful. The fact that you did the girly type eyes on the inside of the "mask" makeup is awesome. THAT is what Harley's face should look like, hands down.

Oh my GOSH, I had no idea this thread even existed!!!! So please forgive my insanely late response.

Firstly, thank you all so much for the compliments! You all rock.

As for the makeup, that's my typical eye makeup, haha. "Zero" eyeliner by Urban Decay if anyone is interested. I just thought it would fit Harley, or at least my interrpretation of her.

My face makeup is Ben Nye clown white and simply black creme makeup. I outline the mask and my lips in black eyeliner first to stop feathering and bleeding, and then I apply the white with simple makeup wedges. I paint the black in with a brush for better control.

Cute, but now disgustingly overpriced because of all the bidders. It would probably be really easy to make.

Actually, looking at it again, the white corset tape on the front is ugly. I think I'd like it better as just a hoodie or as just a corset, or at least with matching corset tape to the fabric.

...also, flat pom-poms on the pigtail things? o_o
