Harley Quinn costume idea!

Okay, so these are some pics of my costume from Halloween:

I'm taking this sort of idea and altering it slightly for the TDK premiere, I'll take new pics afterwards with the altered design...

nice take on the harly costume! You should add some accessories like fingerless gloves or some black and red diamond designs.

I did have gloves actually, wasn't wearing them in those pics but i'll definitely be wearing them for the premiere. And I have added some diamond designs to the pants just recently :D
It's lookin' better now

Love the Westwood related smack down that went on some posts back. Friggn' unbelievable that some jerk could be like "A SUIT IS A SUIT." Oy. Knowing that cut makes a difference doesn't kill your heterosexuality. O_o Snazzy dressed dudes get babes, yo. The Westwood/Johnny influence is way obvious in the new outfit, which IS very different from prior incarnations. Check out the shape of a trench and compare it to tails--sigh.

Throwing my two cents in about the Harley costume:

While I LOVE the punkish-gothish-hottopic-ish look for Harley, as it is something I would wear, I'm a little bit hesitant to say that's how it should be... there's the whole psychiatrist thing, which would mean she was a professional and so on...

...but hey, I'm a psych major and I'm going to be wearing my stripey thigh highs on the weekends no matter what I do. :D

I think Harley SHOULD look a little ****ty... A ripped up, frazzled Harley with lots of ripped stockings, etc, I think would look perfectly fine next to TDK Joker...she's his sub, his doll--she'd be standing around in a daze looking vacant but hot, all sad that he told her to shut the hell up...then he'd snap his fingers or clap his hands and, BAM! she'd be animated again. Life would have meaning when he called her to.

I think I want a sliiight loli influence on the harley costume, just to give her the occasional old school style charm Joker has with the vest and pocket watch and all... keep the short shirt and the ripped layered stockings, but give her a snazzy waistcoat over a nice button down blouse. Or have her in a nice dress, just accessorized with weird stuff to give it that lovely thrown together look.

And rough up the make up some, of course.

It's sad that we'll probably never get to see a Nolan Harley (Oh, Heath! we miss you so!), because I think you could do an awesome story with a very, very gritty realistic Harley, playing up the abusive dyanmic between her and Mister J. Take away a lot of her silly "tee hee, puddin'!" stuff and you're left with a very, very effed up girl...lots of potential there. And you could do bursts of manic laughter but still be very serious.

Harley should not look like a dom. She belongs to Joker, 100%, and she knows it.
That said, thigh high boots do not equal dom in and of themselves.

^Agreed, completely and utterly. You get it. I don't understand why it's so hard for some other people.

Squid, along with your Joker make-up, you have totally won me over. <3

>D Let's be bosom buddies!

Yes yes! I like your posts and I love your art, let's be friends! haaah. <3 (plus, ooo, it is good to run into fellow batgirls.) I dig your joker make up, too. :) and i've used your photobucket to snag the joker card images to stencil them on stuff...heh.

Seriously, though, your first Harley picture? I so need to get that outfit together. I'm thinking a shirt tutu for the skirt, maybe?

I'm having so much trouble figuring out what direction I'm going to take my Harley in. I was thinking tutu, too (tutotototo) but I'm conflicted all over the place. Maybe I just need to make a bunch of Harley-esque pieces and then mix and match. Sigh. SEWING SKILLS INSUFFICIENT.

I reccomend

for learning how to sew basically ANYTHING.

Any crafty project you can think of to do? Someone's probably posted a tutorial on it.
Here are the tutorial lists for the general and reconstructed clothing boards:

For your Harley I was thinking tutu because you could do the color contrasts easily, but if you used a LOT of ribbon/rags sewn together, it might work...

I think I'm going to throw a quick Harley inspired outfit together from my actual clothes to see how close I can get. Hah.

Oh, I'm a craftster regular! Along with whatthecraft, cutoutandkeep, and instructables. :D

'Kay. :D I'm glad, but, y'know, just checking.

I'm on craftster as SquidPrincess. PM me!

this is what she's probably going to wear to the premier-
only problem is there's no red!!!! :( she's not really big into costuming, but she does it to do it with me. she's the best!

Just adding the last finishing touches to my costume today!!! WOO
then i'll post new pics :D

Hey i'm glad to see some pictures of Harley Quinn outfits, I was tired of hearing stuff like "SELF-RESPECTING PUNX ROKK 4 LIFE DUDE!". I like these outfits, really cool lookin.

Already posted this in the "Dressing up for TDK" thread, but here we go anyway:

I've totally been in love with this design ever since someone sent it to me a while ago:

(I'll post pics of me actually *in* the costume after the movie...I still don't have all the parts yet.)

Wow, nice! I couldn't do that design, I'm much too self-conscious about baring my midriff. You are one bold lady!

I don't know where you were hearing anything like that.

A few posts back where people were arguing about "punk fashion", and how "self-respecting punks" wouldn't do this or that. Obviously, what I posted was not what was exactly stated, but I was making a point that people were talking about Johnny Rotten and Vivienne Westwood on a Harley Quinn outfit thread. Of course, this thread is about fashion in a sense, so my comment had enough rationale as the example I was making.

That's because it was relevant, dummy. If you'd actually read it you'd see why. Anyway, it was over loooong ago so there was no point in you bringing it up.
