Has anybody every thought about becoming a vigilante..seriously?

When I was younger I gave some thought to it. However after thinking about it I realized that comics were not real and I might as well turn myself into the police now if I were to go through with it.

I will say this. DON'T think martial arts, especially non competitive martial arts, prepares you for vigilantism. 1) We use guns now and 2) Between boxing, martial arts and rugby, rugby is the most like a real fight. Rugby is fast paced and you don't have time to think of using "raising cranes beak" or whatever. People fight like drunken sailors, they smother you, they choke you, they dogpile you, they chase you, they tackle you....they don't set up in nice fighting stances...and they usually bring friends too.

A friend of mine told me he honestly wants to get his vigilante license for weapons and become one. He gets stupid ideas like this all the time.

The only superheroes whoever could possibly exist (everyone ready): Punisher *has existed*, Iron Man, Captain America (there will be an army of), Sentinels, Robocop (perhaps), Cyborg, Luke Cage, US Agent...basically anything that can be Government produced and has tactical advantages.

Wrong on all accounts.

When I was a teenager, I dressed up all in black, wore a mask and roamed the London Underground as a masked avenger.

then i was arrested for carrying a dangerous weapon (a nunchuck and an arnis) but since i was a minor i got off on a warning. lol Tim Drake had just been Robin and I had gotten my green belt in karate, I was feeling invincible. I was 15 what can i say haha
:|.....

Shadowboxing, who do you mean when you said there has been a Punisher?

I'm sure plenty of people have went a little crazy and attempted to take the law into their own hands with guns. But I doubt there has ever been a person anywhere near the level of the Punisher.

The Punisher is the most likely superhero to exist in the real world, and possibly the most effective, but also the most wrong. A war veteran using his experience to start a never ending war on crime with an insanely large number of kills under his belt? It's never happened. Could it happen? Yes. It's about as likely though as me being hit by lightening.

Thats pretty much who I meant. Plus hitmen (which is what Punisher is more or less) are emplyed by the mob and government quiet frequently.

No, never going to happen........

If there was a guy who like....learned a couple of forms of kung fu and bought some gear and beat people up.....

maybe :o

Ah ok.

I'd only call a person a real life Punisher if they succsesfully and repeatidly used their military knowledge to take out criminals while operating as a vigilante, a one man army.

...he'd get shot and arrested.

Becoming an actor is a good way to be a vigilante.

I mean we have plenty of mercenaries, hitmen and bounty hunters who are very successful and live for years.

You'll probably get to do it 4 or 5 times if you make a lot of money, plus you don't die from getting shot at on your first night out.

Escrima and various other arts where every move counts can save yer life if you master it. And the point of learning martial arts is so you get to the point where you don't even have to think about doing whatever you have to do. Really though, whoever goes to fight crime without a kevlar vest and guns is stupid. Though being a vigilante is a stupid thing to pursue if you have loved ones and family anyway.

You can get to the point where it is reflex, against whatever you've learned fighting. But I knew an Olympic level martial artists (as in he went to the Olympics) and he got near killed by a drunk in a bar fight. Apparently the "beer bottle" block is not taught by the masters

But I agree with what you say....if you aren't carrying guns and tact gear...forget it.

he'd still try...:(

and his butler would bail him out :o

A real-life Batman wouldn't have a butler to bail him out. :o

I've thought about it. Not that anything bad ever happened to me, I'd be doing it out of boredom. I even designed an outfit that would be mostly bullet proof, but still allow me to move effectively. I even had tons of holsters on it to carry all of the weapons that I had in mind. But to actually make it would cost me a fortune, and there's no way that I could hide all of it. If I could actually maintain my life that way, I would be a bounty hunter. But I'm not sure that I could live off the pay from the bounties, so I'm not sure it would be worth it.
