Have The Terrorists Won?

They can never win, just like we can never fully "win".

The only way they could come close was to get the rest of the world, or a country, on their side. The Iraqi insurgency looked like they MIGHT have won the hearts of Iraqis a while back...but the last 1 1/2 year has changed that. Iraqis hate the insurgency more then ever now, mostly because it kills normal everyday Iraqis.

No they have not. They wanted to ahnilate the US. They haven't.

If you don't vote on American Idol, the terrorists have won.

No. But they haven't lost either. It's naive to think we can completely erase terror from the globe. You can't kill ideas.

Ideas are bulletproof.

I have to say, I knew the V reference was coming but I didn't expect it so fast.

Has their actions scared the US into giving up the rights we're fighting for? In a way, yes.

In the end, however, no one will win this. The Middle East just doesn't have the resources we do, and we can't defeat an idea like "terror."

The terrorists hate your freedom. They want to take away your Starbucks gift certificate.

They want to take away Rose Red and Snow White and Bigby Wolf too. Take them away to the farm where they will never be heard from again.

Sweet avatar.

I would have to say yes. They succeded in nearly destroying the American economy,i hear their total debt is over 300 billion.

Americans are still afraid to fly,the airline industry is still near bankruptcy.

Ignorance runs rampid, the population mindlessly follows Bush. When people like TheSumOfGod aka TheAnswerIsJesus trys to put up facts...they are ignored or laughed at.

World relations are low,the world is resisting the urge to crush the USA.

There is no trust among the people,so i would have to say yes. They won.

No they haven't won. The terrorists will never bring about the downfall of the Western World as they claim thats what there out to do. They don't have the resources, technology, or manpower. Thats why they lose battle after battle and always have to resort to suicide and roadside bombs.
But as others have said it is impossible to stop terrorists as they will always exist just the same way there will always be crinimals. Murderers, robbers, rapists. They'll always exist. You can defeat Al Queda and conquer Iraq. But can't ever wipe the world clean of terrorists.

The key here is awareness. The United States needs to know they exist and know how to stop them. Not set out on this ridiculous and impossible quest of purging the world of terrorists. Which a lot of people claim is just a front as a way to claim oil.
What the US should have done is kept on it's original goal in Afghanistan and fully defeated Al Queda and the Taliban eliminating Osama and throwing them out of power. You can't kill all of them but you can crush an organization like Al Queda. Had they stuck to this original goal Al Queda would be defeated by now and Bush and the US would have been much better off in the public eyes of the world and the world would be a little bit safer of a place. But instead Bush left the job half done and went on his way to Iraq. Inspiring more hatred than needed and causing more problems than solving.

i think we should jus get our ass the hell outta iraq, its useless anymore.

well, let's see:

women aren't allowed to talk to men in public...check
women aren't allowed to go to college.............check
women aren't allowed to show their flesh.........check
all enemies of Allah have been slain and dismembered...check

yep, looks like they've won.

Hatred is such a strong word. Dislike. It's dislike.
