Have you ever experienced racism?

Yes, I've lived there before. I've experienced racism there as well. The Koreans weren't too fond of me being Filipino. They almost didn't let me into a bar/club when they saw me... I had to prove to them I was American before they did.

What!? :wow: I wouldn't feel like I had to prove kuso to them! When I was living in Cebu you should have heard the stories of what they put their girlfriends through over there. And wasn't there cases of Filipino domestic workers complaining of abuse in Korea? I didnt much like it too much either, it brought back fond memories of growing up in Cerritos (I use to fight everyday of my life!) On a plus note they do have one of the nicest airports, and lightning fast broadband speed. But those folks are brutal, my ex told me stories of how it wasn't uncommon to see students walking around with black eyes, and arm slings. She told me her teacher when she was in the second grade punched her in the face for not paying attention. When she got home her parents learned of it and punched her too. Thats sad when you think about it.

In fairness, those Powergrid ratings are usually way off. Cyclops from the X-Men has level 5 intelligence (genius), level 4 strength (lifts 25 tons), level 4 speed (speed of sound), level 4 durability (regenerative), level 7 energy projection (unlimited command of all forms of energy), and level 5 fighting skills (master of a single form of combat-- probably the only accurate rating).

It's always best to ignore the Powergrid at Marvel.com.

Yea I know, but come on 1!!!????? They said he was on par with Bruce Banner, wouldn't that automatically give him at least a 6?

In Songtan, near Osan Air Base, I knew a Filipina club girl who was really outspoken about how she didn't like working there but she was under contract (meaning they held her passport until her 1 year contract was fulfilled). They wanted to transfer her to another club that was run by more Korean mafia types than the one she was currently working at. So after her shift one night, they told her to get into a car because they were going to give her a ride home... funny, because her apartment was walking distance from the club. She tried to run but they chased her and caught her in one of the alleys and proceeded to choke her and smack her around.

So she started screaming for help and she got lucky because the Air Force Security Forces (Air Force Police) was walking around on town patrol and intervened... the guys ran off and Security Forces took her on base for medical care. They were able to arrange to get her passport back and she was able to go back to the Philippines.

Now, it's not like the Americans didn't act stupid... because American military members act stupid wherever in the world they are stationed, but this was a common occurrence that was heard from the women working in Korea. I don't really hear this happening too much here in Okinawa, but the Japanese govt here has really cracked down on the human trafficking more here than the Korean govt has. I felt really bad for a lot of the women there. Some of them got used to the lifestyle... but many didn't.

I've met chicks who actually think there's something wrong with you if you DON'T have a kid or kids. Like maybe you don't have any game, which is a ****ed up way to think. Priorities all mish mashed.

Yeah,.. I ran into that "back in the day". The concept that if you didn't have a few kids from different females that you didn't have "game".

real self destructive way to judge possible life partners.

Stupid actually.

Jailed Ga. man released early in soldier's beating

:cmad:

JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) -- A white man who was sentenced to six months in a Georgia jail for beating a black Army Reservist in front of her daughter and yelling racial slurs has been released early.

Worth County Sheriff Freddie Tompkins said Troy Dale West was released Dec. 3, 43 days after he began serving his sentence. He had roughly 4-1/2 months remaining on his sentence when he was turned over to deputies in October.

West could have faced more than 44 years in prison if convicted on felony charges in the beating of Tasha Hill in September 2009 outside a metro Atlanta Cracker Barrel. The charges were reduced to misdemeanors in a plea deal.

Tompkins said having misdemeanors instead of felonies made West eligible to work off his time while in jail.

Where is the outrage in this? I got jumped by some Asian gang-bangers and I almost was charged for a murder crime because "I defended myself" , no this guy nearly kills this woman in front of her daughter and all he gets is a slap on the wrist? That could have been my mother, (or your mother) and this clown gets 6 months!!!!???????? W.T.F!!!!?

Sigh.
Nothing new here.

That's messed up. Those guys need a dose of reality. :cmad:

Did they delve further into that or did they just leave it at that?

People here may not consider this racist but to me one experience was when I went to my sister's work to get her kid...I later on found out that teachers there assumed that I was my sister's husband just because I was a guy who looked brown. :cmad:

Yes,all of the dudes who look brown only find brown women attractive. :whatever:

If you were there to pick up your sister's child, why would it be absurd to assume you may have been her husband?

I don't see what that has to do with finding brown women attractive? It almost seems to imply that you find that offensive.

^^Yeah you summed up succinctly what I was about to type.

I've been asked if I was the father of friends kids even my niece. I think it may just be the whole "male" thing and not the color of one's skin.

Because I look brown!!!!!!!!!! There is evidence that not all brown guys stick with their own kind. I only find the latter in bold offensive when there are stupid broads who think that all of the brown guys in the world are only attracted to women who are brown, don't get me wrong some brown women are attractive but all of the brown guys don't feel the same way about that, thanks to the certain ones who are fake followers of religion. And then you got the religion followers who are brown who secretly oggle over chicks that aren't Muslim if not Indian.

It's not like you were walking down the street and they just assumed you were her husband. You were picking up her kid.

You think someone is racist because they thought you were the father of your sisters kids (because you look similar)...but find no problem making offensive remarks about women.

On a side note....someone once thought I was my niece's father because we look similar....I guess they were being racist too.

Dude,it's not like I think that all women think that all of the brown guys in the world go for brown girls only,I know that the less narrow-minded women don't think like that. I don't know about you and a bit of the others here in this thread but I don't actually like it when people stick with bullcrap opinions when it has something to do with me, stuff that there is zero truth to.

You have forgotten that women aren't exactly naive. Or that they aren't always on the money.

That doesn't sound like what you're describing at all that though. It sounds like they just made an honest mistake that most people would have made. Like I said if you were just some guy walking down the street and they said "Oh look a brown guy, he must be so and so's husband" you'd have a point but you were picking up her kid and (i'm assuming) you have the same complexion as the kid, most people would have assumed you were the father/husband.

If I walk down the street carrying my 3 year old niece people who don't know us are going to think I'm her father.

It sort of doesn't since they ended up seeing the error of their way.

Funny, my son's mom has never ran into that issue, even though she is far darker than our son. He's a little darker than me (could pass for Caucasion) but people say we look alike so maybe that's the key. Is there a family resemblance S.A.A.D?

"No Doubt"

Haha, the thing is man, the way you're talking is making it out like you were offended that they would consider you liking women of your own race.

(Mild confusion)
What exactly is your point? That people shouldn't assume that if your sister is brown,.. and the child is brown, than it is somehow biased or bigoted to assume w/o asking you directly whether you "a brown guy" is the father?

Life is too short if that was your issue,... if it wasn't,.. please explain in small words for the challenged (me, myself and I).
