The problem with Lex for most viewers is they are expecting a Lex that just wants his "classic" motivation or something as veiled as a guy just wanting to be the most powerful.

Snyder gives the audience credit for actually being able to piece things together, and I think that's why people progressively like his movies more and more over time because the story is all there, you just have to piece it together along the way and it can be overwhelming on first versions.

I find this version of Lex much more compelling and far more relatable if there was such a person out there who would obsessively be trying to discredit Superman as well as subverting the other metas.

Maybe you can answer this question for me:

I find it absurd that the movie ends with Lex saying that "something is coming" when we haven't been clued into what he knows, how he knows it, when he found out, how that knowledge has informed him or his motivations, or why we should care. It's the most tacked on, unnecessary, shoehorned piece of world-building this side of ASM 2 and from what I can tell from the theatrical cut, it came completely out of left field.
If someone can shed some light on this, it'd be appreciated. Is there a scene I'm missing where this is cleared up or hinted at?

he knows something we/you don't know... that piss you up to no end??? hhaha

indeed, people are afraid of and hate things they don't know. :D
poor superman...

This is what happens when you don't screen a movie early to GA members. Ppl were concerned with Batman killing when the very first trailer came out. If the studio had listened, they could have edited the batmobile chase (and done some reshoots) to show that he wasn't killing ppl during that chase; same with the warehouse scene. They had the time to research and address audiences responses and they failed.

It was a mind-blowing experience the first time and on the third time I loved it even more. Don't care what others think. I love it. Enjoyed it. Will watch it 1000s of times more. Probably only watch the ultimate cut because its the complete edition of the film. Can't watch the other version knowing that there is more to the story.

So I saw BvS again last night with a buddy who had been away for months and hadn't had the chance to see it. It's been roughly two months since I last saw it (I saw it twice in the first week of release) and it's hard to explain why, but this was definitely my favorite viewing of the movie and I enjoyed it even more from start to finish than the first time I saw it.

I might be the only person on the forum to ever say this, but I think that watching BvS in theaters after having seen Civil War gave me a new level of appreciate for BvS -- and this is coming from someone who really liked Civil War and immensely enjoyed that viewing experience.

I can't even imagine sitting through B v S again so soon after Civil War.

Yeah, when he said that in the movie, I didn't even realize he was referencing Darkseid or whatever. I just thought he meant that Superman was an evil demon and would be coming back or something.

All these weeks later and that's what bugs me the most outside of the film makers once again dropping the ball with Superman.

After watching Civil War and thinking about the movie a bit more it will probably go down to a 6.5 (was 8 after first viewing).

It made me realise how much BvS lacked in action and decent action. BvS really needed a BvS action scene in the first half. The "Do You Bleed" scene needed to be much earlier and actually have a fight in it. At that moment in the cinema I was pumped but it just ended.

The movie will only get better and better for me.
So many things to get from the film.

I'm with you. I love the MCU, a lot, but the last 2 movies (not Ant-Man) have been so hollow (AoU and Civil War) have just been so hollow. After the heights of CATWS they've just completely gone back to playing it safe, cheap laughs, and lack of all tension or interesting story lines. Actually, interesting story lines is something they haven't done well in almost all movies.

BvS took risks, big ones, and they're glorious.

I genuinely like the film. I'm really anticipating the Ultimate Cut.

I said in a previous post that I wanted more Batman. Of course I do look at my username but really in a movie like Batman v Superman there should be about the same time or scenes of the two protagonists.
I understand that this is the introduction to this series Batman and might need a tad more time but I do agree that it should feel like a Batman and a Superman movie.
Superman is my second favorite superhero. So this movie is a dream come true.
I'm a big sucker for extended cuts or director's cuts or whatever they are called. So having a live action Batman film that has an alternate cut is another dream.
I thought I'd get it with Batman Forever but they didn't release one. Got one in Batman return of the Joker which was animated and one with The Dark knight returns which was animated too but that was just both parts put back together.
I'm so spoiled .

Plus I finally get a 3 hour Batman film. Sounds stupid but I've always wanted one at that length.

I'm also anticipating the UC. A big story like this requires multiple views, and additional footage is very intriguing.

I'm gonna watch this movie over and over again. And UC can't come soon enough.

you got the pirated version to watch over and over???

I never pirated movies let alone a Batman film. I love the anticipation so I will wait until the blu ray. Can't watch a crap quality anymore. Blu Ray all the way.

After watching CW, I REALLY wish that they'd gotten the Russo's to do this. Because they seem to know how to build a truly compelling, and coherent, story out of a premise like this, and have an actual good reason for the heroes to fight, and still remain true to their characters.

I'm not giving Snyder credit for "trying to be different" since his "different" is crap imo.

A Russo version of DC's Justice League, is something I would like to see. They're excellent with big ensemble casts and gives each superhero their time to shine.

Don't you think that's a recipe for compromising the actual story?

don't bring in CW. if i wanted to, i can thrash CW just like the critics did to BvS. imo, CW is like pop corn... just fat and cheese...

kids friendly movie most of time can make billions...
