[Okay please answer seriously. Sucks I have to even put that , but apparently it was suggested that I do as such. I don't want people making jokes about brain locks or mind chains or something lame.]
So by your own definition, what is a closed mind?
I ask because I wanted to show someone the anime Death Note. And the person actually liked one or two animes that I have shown them, even watched the whole series of Outlaw Star. This person seemed to simply be lazy and did not want to put forth the effort into watching Death Note, but then they began citing how they felt Spirited Away was boring and for that reason anime in GENERAL was not something they liked.
I made the analogy of rap music. When people say they hate rap music, more often than not they mean that they hate what they've either heard or what they've heard about it. Some people might actually hate the style all together and that's fine. But claiming to hate EVERYTHING including stuff you have not heard is....rather odd.
So the person gets defensive. And claims that it is not close minded to hate anime or video games. "Just because I don't feel like sitting around and watching every single anime ever for the two or three that I might like, does not make me close minded."
So to not argue any further I just dismiss the person.
The person is irrelevant, as is the story itself. It's the question that I want to know about. I only explained the story so to better justify/explain the question.
Here's another example if it will help:
Say A does not like Z But B wants to show A more of T (The classification that Z falls under), knowing that Z is not favored. B assures A that T has more to offer than simply Z, and now uses said knowledge of Z, can help A find things like Y and X. Is A closed minded?
