Hbo's -ROME- SEASON 2:The Offical Discussion thread.

Attia is really getting her's now isn't she..?..!

Pullo sure can plant his seed can't he?
Is that 3 women now?
Slave girl really likes the rough stuff ... wow ...
Sevillia going out like that was really creepy.

***** deserved it, she was the one who started this whole mess

True. After Ceasar dumped her she went ballistic.Hell has no fury like a woman scorned.

That line she was chanting has being playing in my head all ****ing day..

"Attia of the Julii........... " :whatever:

I saw Herod was shown in there. How many years before the birth of Christ do these events take place?

One more thing; don't mean to sound like a perv but i hope we get more nude shots of GAIA

It was funny when Eireeni told Pullo he should 'beat her like that every month'. :D

Pullo's wife is turning into one mean biotch... funny cause she used to be a slave.

Well she is pregnant...;)

I like the character Irene and do not like the direction, I think the show is taking that subplot. After Vorenus lost Niobe, I think that is enough marital tragedy for this pair of friends. But Gaia DID NOT get the abortion potion for herself, she was FAKING her pregnancy. She is going to try and kill Pullo and Eirene's baby and probably Eirene herself.

If that happens, I'll lose some respect for this show.

Overall, this was the first episode in the entire series I was disappointed with. Other than Servellia's great exit, puncuated by another classic Antony one-liner, the episode felt rushed and to be filler at the same time. I think Antony and Atia's rage over him being forcced to marry Octavia should have been more present and focused upon, instead of done in a time jump. Antony was a little too cool about being screwed over by Octavian again.

Add onto that the annoying and stupid subplot of Vorena cheating on her father which has been a time waste since the beginning and the ruining of a great subplot with the Jewish family ending like something out of a soap opera. Highly disappointing.

The savin grace was James Purefoy(sp??) as Antony giving great lines like "That's what I call an exit" or "Well this IS strange."

I hope the show picks back up its momentum for the final 3 episodes.

Interesting. Never thought about that.

that's the first thing I thought. She got the potion, but she didn't buy the extra stuff to help stop the bleeding. So obviously it's not for herself.

The wedding was classy, so good

Those are some good points...next episodes are bringing Cleopatra back...that should be good. And I don't think Antony gives a crap about either one of Octavian's relatives. By the way, was it historically acurate that Octanvian slept with Octavia? Cause the new Octavian was creeping me out last episode.

No. Nor was Antony sleeping with Atia. But if you are going to make that a subplot (same with Octavian's obsession with Octavia), I would think the hardships of this arrangement should have been explored from all characters more and just not rushed through.

i agree to a degree. I wish that some things were further explored.

but what I like about Rome is that it has fluidly moved over a 9-10 year period in 17 episodes.

I think what you're talking about is a consequence of such a short season. There's a lot to explore, and they need to avoid getting bogged down in any nonsense. I like how it keeps the melodrama on the cooker

Pivotal ep. Hate to know we're only getting two more.

Wonder if Pullo will find out about Gaia killing his wife and child?

Knew it was going there and hate it. Otherwise good episode, but killing off Pullo's wife and child was contrived, annoying and stupid. How sad.

The ending was classic, though.

Doesn't Antony kill himself in real life, will he kill himself on this show?

like I said before, I agree, but the pace at which the story moves forward, means that the interpersonal stuff will get neglected. It's just a fact one has to deal with when every episode jumps months, if not years.

Last night's episode was steller IMO. I'm glad we got to see some more Pullo ass kicking...biting out that dudes tounge was brutal. And yea I'm sure he'll end up finding out about Gaia. However it would be ironic if he ended up with her seeing as he killed his wife's fiance' after she was freed. She returns the favor and then some.
Octavian is such a creepy dude...The whole "I will beat you when we're married..." cause he gets off on it was kind of out of nowhere.
Next weeks looks promising. Still hate that there are only 2 left.

It's a shame I've missed out on this forum and only found it with two episodes left.

I think this entire season has been exceptional. Better than the first season. Probably because the storyline was intended for two seasons and since there will be no season 3 there's more bang for the buck with each episode.

I'm sure that the last two episodes will cover everything up to Octavian being crowned Augustus. Antony and Cleopatra committing suicide is a major part of the story. They've covered much ground this season although I was hoping for a 13 episode season.

What are they doing with Timon the Jew? Any ideas?

Timon headed back to Jeruselum. I think that's the last we've seen of him. I hope the last two eps are longer than one hout each, to make up for the short season.

I more interested to know how it ends up for Vorenus in Egypt and Pullo with the kids....

and how Pullo and Vorenus end up reunited (or whatever their end may be). I mean the series has to end with them together.

Perhaps Vorenus and Pullo will be pitted against each other when Cleopatra and Antony rebel against Rome.

I don't think that's the end for Timon. Why focus on him so much this season if that's all they are going to do with him. I think he'sgoing to go after Atia.

I think Pullo will be recruited by Octavian to kill off Caesarian. And somehow meeting/fighting Vorenus.

They did cut Timon's character off rather abruptly but considering this is the last season, i think they're just trying to rush and add some closure to some of the characters like Servilia, Timon, etc..

..I think Ceasars slave (the one who was freed then married Octavia's friend and now works with Anthony) is the next to go...he's becoming too sneaky/greedy.

...i really think that HBO and the BBC has under estimated how big of a fan base this show has. I mean, every review i read about the show is a positive one. Surely they could find investors willing to help finance the show, if money TRULY(?) is the issue....

couldn't they get educational grants?
