Can anyone think of any directors that have this one movie in their filmography that really surprised you to discovered that they directed(in a bad way, I mean)?

I was suprised to learn that Joel Schumacher directed a thriller like Phone Booth and yet it just blows me away how bad he raped the Batman franchise.

Peter Jackson and The Frighteners. I love that movie and didn't realize he directed it until after the LOTR trilogy (which I love to hate).

FF Coppola - Jack.

The definitive ''HE directed that?!?'' movie.

I guess "The Faculty"... but I liked it more than Planet Terror, actually i liked it more than desperado, once upon a time in American and well I didn't really like any of Rob's movies except Faculty and I only mildly enjoyed Faculty.

peter jackson- ANYTHING before LOTR. specifically dead-alive and meet the feebles.

i still remember when someone was telling me they were making a LOTR film, and i asked who was directing, and they told me some guy named peter jackson, and i was just like "peter jackson? you mean...the dead-alive guy?"

James Cameron: Piranha Part Two: The Spawning

Bryan Singer : SUPERMAN RETURNS (really such a shame, used to respect that guy for givin us usual suspects, apt pupil and the xmen movies but gosh wat was he thinkin)

Brett Ratner - Red Dragon ,The Family Man

(i was like wow give this man some more stuff to do in hollywood besides the rush hr movies but then i saw x3 and was like alrighty then moving along)

Ridley Scott-Matchstick Men

another definitive ''HE directed that?!?'' movie.

Steven Spielberg - War of the Worlds remake....

Everything that was great about Phone Booth was the camera work.(Matt Libatique)This guy was the DP on films like Requiem for A Dream ,The Fountain,PI , and Inside Man..
So I just rip the credit right out of Schumachers arms.

see no evil Huh !
i'm just getting fed up of you idiots badmouthing Joel Schumacher on this one batman movie.
this Batman and robin was basesd on the 60' series and he did a pretty good job.
as for me,it's my favorite so far!
so all of you can go to hell and kiss Schumacher and clooney's butt if you don't like it.

James Cameron and Titanic

Now i know it was a huge hit, but it came out at a time when i was just watching movies for the fun of it! (i was like 12 or something) and around that time just getting into Terminator and Aliens and older people were saying "You know the guy who directed Titanic also did Terminator" I was like "Pfff no way can someone go from a cool as hell film like that to a soppy love story!!!"

Turns out he could! Still love all his work :)

EDIT!
Also!!!!! HE Directed that, also woman directors about you know, as shocking as it is :p

I'd just like to point out that yes, Batman and Robin was bad... very bad, but it was intended to be the way it was. No, that doesn't excuse it's crappiness, but it should be very clear just by watching that Joel Schumacher wasn't TRYING to make a masterpiece or the definitive batman film, or anything like that.

Christopher Nolan - Batman Begins

HE DIRECTED THIS???

Sriram Raghavan - Ek Hasina Thi

CAN YOU BELIEVE HE DIRECTED THIS FILM
