I think they should make a hellblazer films, completely separate from that load of 'constantine' rubbish! Who should be cast as constantine?

Set it in brittain, get rid of the morales that constantine film had, like the don't smoke or commit suicide crap. This film could be great, input anyone...

I would love to see it, but it would never happen.

If you want to recast Constantine go with
Sean Bean

or

Paul Bettany

I wouldn't wanna see either of these as constantine, I can't think of who i want, but i kno it's not them!

I don't think his voice is right for the role though.

Once agen, his voice is not right, needs to be very grainy and cancerous!

Sean Bean fits that for me.

Really? I don't think his voice could carry the mix of humour and cynisism well enough.

James Marsters. He's not British, but he's amazing with accents. And really, in terms of aditude, Spike was essentially a more violent John Constantine.

i think he's too much of a boy to pull off the role. We need a proper brittish actor, who's deep voiced, and is very sinister, i'll have a think for another day, gd nite!

He's got a deep voice, he can certainly play sinister, and while he isn't British, he can definately play a British man quite convincingly. And he's in his 40s. I'd hardly consider him a "boy."

i was referring to his appeal, he is very much a teen icon, not exactly what I had in mind, I think a true brit actor would best caprture al the richness of the british mindset with it's cynicism etc. I think an unknown would probably be best, I've met so many promising indie actors, I think that would be the best route, but what about story-wise?

A good many of the Buffy/Angel fans and the Virtigo fans are in the same age range.

Did you ever see him play Spike? He oozed with so much working class Birish cynicism that you'd think he was playing John Constantine in the first place if you simply tuned in right in the middle of it.

i like James Marsters. I think he would make a great constantine.

And if they decide to redo everything, and make it more faithful to the comics, WB should REALLY consider getting Swamp Thing back onto the screen. They could adapt the whole American Gothic arc, and then do Spin-offs.

Billy Idol should be Constantine! :word:

But in all seriousness, James Marsters would be good in the role. So would Clive Owen I think...and so would Paul Bettany.

Masters is too in your face, i doubt he could portray the subtlety well enough. Why would fans want to see him play what you describe as the same character again? He was far too farcicle, possibly there are moments where he may seem right, but they are few and far between.

Irony is key to constantine, being a huge fan, I want to see him done right, not another half assed attempt!

Jeez, Cyrusbale, you're harder to please then a woman without a G-spot.

Bettany is the best suggestion so far, but he's still not john constantine to me.:(

Do you honestly think you actually know what you're talking about? How the hell is Marsters a farce.

Were we not watching the same TV series? He was the comic elemtn in buffy, and by the end of the show, he was nothing except a joke really!

The film got me into the books, now after reading all of the books the movie falls flat.

Even if they can't fit it all into 1 movie, having a Hellblazer miniseries would be cool.
